    • An apparatus for processing, stacking and thereafter collecting printed forms, includes: a dual registering stacking interface, that stacks and accumulates forms in a stack or in a continuing feeding as separate forms; and, a sequencer merger that receives the forms from the dual registering stacking interface and directs the forms in a selected order to an output end. The output end communicates with an accumulator that feeds the forms to a folder. The folder thereafter feeds the forms to a collector to be held until called for by a subsequent downstream device, such as a mail inserter device. The register, accumulator and collector are belt and/or roller driven devices, wherein the invention provides clutching assemblies for the transport belts and rollers in order to eliminate the streaking of the printed forms when idled forms are held stationary against the transport belts.

    • In order to stack sheets (1) of paper or cardboard transported by a stream feeder onto pallets (4), devices are known which comprise a vertically fixed transport mechanism (2) for the sheets (1), placed above the ground, above the maximum stack height, and a stacking platform (5) which can be raised and lowered, and on which the piles (3) are formed. Ejection rolls (10) and separating shoes (11) are arranged in the form of stack-forming elements, behind the transport mechanism (2), acting on the longitudinal edges of a sheet (1). According to the invention, the separating shoes (11) are formed in a cuneiform manner with a separating edge extending upwards from a tip situated on the entrance side in the displacement direction of the sheets. Said shoes are arranged in the displacement direction of the sheets, behind the ejection rolls (10), in such a way that the separating edge starts below the ejection height of the ejection rolls (10).

    • An inserter input system including a web feeder providing a web of printed material to be split by a web slitting knife along the web's direction of travel. The split web is then cut transverse to the direction of travel by a rotary cutter operating at a first velocity, resulting in side-by-side individual sheets. Downstream of the rotary cutter, a right angle turn mechanism receives each of the side-by-side sheets and reorients them by ninety degrees. Further the right angle turn reorients the sheets into a serial shingled arrangement. A high speed separation nip pulls individual shingled sheets out from the shingled arrangement. The speed of the separation nip is such that a predetermined gap between the previously shingled sheets is formed. In a further preferred embodiment of the present invention, the speed of the rotary cutter and right angle turn mechanism are controlled to adjust a quantity of sheets that would be generated from displacement traveled due to inertia during a deceleration of the system to a stop.

    • A process and device are provided for setting the crop mark for and/or in a print production, in which prints are continuously printed on a web. At least one printing couple for printing on a web is provided. A lengthwise cutting device cuts the web into a first web strand and at least one second web strand. A converging device is provided for converging the first web strand with at least the second web strand and/or at least one other web strand to form a bundle. A cross-cutting device cuts the bundle. A crop mark setting device is provided with at least one deflecting device for each of the web strands of the bundle. The deflecting devices form a deflection axis for the web strand of the bundle, the web strand being associated with it. The deflecting device is mounted movably such that the particular deflection axis formed is adjustable at right angles to an axial direction by a maximum adjusting path length. The maximum adjusting path length of each deflecting device is such that the adjusting path lengths by which the deflection axes must be adjusted for setting the crop mark positions of the web strands, the crop mark positions being related to the cross-cutting, can be split between the deflecting device of all web strands of the bundle.

    • Dual folding apparatus using multi-width parent rolls to produce color sequenced stacks of napkins, including means for unwinding, slitting and advancing same-color product webs to a turning and lane separating device to selectively transfer first-color webs to one of two ‘folding’ lanes and selectively transfer second-color webs to the other lane. First and second-color webs in superposed side by side advancement are embossed, and webs of the same color are directed to one side of a dual folder for longitudinal folding, cutoff, and transverse folding while the second-color web is processed in the other side of the dual folder. Napkins of one color are superposed on napkins of a second color and delivered as a pair between delivery belts for packout into stacks having napkins of alternating color. Two adjacent delivery lanes deliver stacks of the same mixed colors. In machines with four delivery lanes, first and second lanes can have alternating first and second colors, while the the third and fourth lanes can have alternating third and fourth color stacks. Other embodiments include different placement of unwind stands, arrangement of parent roll colors, and other turning and lane changing means.
