摘要： Sections successively severed from a double layer web of synthetic thermoplastic film, e.g., flattened tube stock, as produced are each stacked and welded to a precedingly stacked section near one edge, or in a tear off part or hanger portion to which a bag portion of the section is attached; forming ultimately a pad of bag sections, wherein each section includes either a complete bag or a partially completed bag, in the latter case with certain final bag producing operations carried out simultaneously for all bags already brought together and preferably welded together in a pad structure.Apparatus is disclosed including various web welding, seaming, perforating and/or severing devices operating in horizontal planes upon a preferably vertically fed stock web, and below the aforesaid devices, either associated with a welding beam element or independently thereof, devices for adding each successive bag to a stack with welding to a proceeding bag, and as well a lay off table for grippingly accepting a desired finished bag pad and laying it off onto a horizontal running, product-discharging conveyor belt. Apparatus variations are disclosed for carrying out certain of the above and other operations on the web, while horizontal or vertical, before severance of sections, e.g., in carrying out methods of producing a plurality of bags simultaneously from a wide web stock continuously longitudinally divided into a corresponding plurality of narrower "sub-webs".

摘要： According to the present disclosure a method is provided wherein tubular thermoplastic material is intermittently fed between opposed transversely extending seal bars operating in timed relation with the intermittent feeding of the web to sequentially perform cutting and sealing of the web during its period of repose. To insure a clean straight transverse cut, which occurs momentarily before transverse sealing, the web is held under tension between longitudinally spaced draw and feed rolls. Immediately after the web is transversely severed, the seal bars are brought into pressure engagement transversely sealing the web along a margin which will define the bottom of the bag. While the sealed portion of the web is at the sealing station, cooling air is discharged along the sealed portion of the web to effect cooling. Before the web is fed an additional increment, it is momentarily fed rearwardly to avoid the possibility of adherence to the seal bars.

While the web is stationary, one of the sealing heads is moved into pressure engagement with the other head, with the web disposed therebetween, to clamp, sever and seal the web. The web is transversely severed downstream of the seal and after the severing and sealing operation is completed said one head is moved transversely away from the web; and the other hand is momentarily moved downstream relative to the stationary web for stripping the web from said other head prior to the next cycle of operation of the draw rolls.

With the conveyance unit, a film tube is conveyed to pass through the sealing unit, the perforating unit, and the breaking unit. Furthermore, with the control unit in cooperation with various driving means, the sealing assemblies can be moved in the direction of the film tube being moved, and the cutting device of the perforating unit is rotated in synchronous with the film tube being moved. As such, the film tube can be processed with sealing operations, perforating operations, and breaking operations at predetermined locations along the film tube without an interruption, so that the production rate and capacity can be increased.

A dispenser is provided on which a coil of bags is mounted. An end of the chain is pulled from the center opening and fed around a tapered mandrel and thence over a feed control mandrel oriented in angular relationship with the tapered mandrel. The web is then fed to a bagging machine for dispensing, loading and closing of the bags. The table on which the coil is mounted is rotatable so that the orientation of a span of bags running from the coil to the tapered mandrel remains substantially constant as the web is fed.

To make blocks of bags in which each bag is joined only at its rear wall to the stub, which serves to stack and retain the bag, transverse perforation lines consisting of holes or slits are formed in the upper ply at the opening-defining edges of the bags to be formed, and both plies are subsequently formed with transverse perforation slits, which are so offset that over the width of the initially formed perforation holes the upper ply is entirely separated from the stub and the lower ply is joined to the stub by lands adjacent to the initially formed overlying perforation line.
