    • An apparatus for treating wastewater includes a treatment tank having a first edge region and a second edge region opposite the first edge region, a feed line configured to provide the wastewater to the treatment tank, a movable wastewater distributor connected to an end of the feed line and configured to distribute the wastewater in the treatment tank, and a traction mechanism. The wastewater distributor includes a plurality of outlet openings and is moveable within the treatment tank and the traction mechanism is configured to move the wastewater distributor in a reversing manner between the first and second opposite edge regions of the treatment tank. The feed line is elastically deformable so as to allow a movement of the wastewater distributor in a direction of back and forth movement.

    • An extraction system for removing a particulate material (e.g., abrasive material, such as garnet) from a water jet tank includes a tank with a door movably coupled to the bottom end to seal the bottom end of the tank. The system also includes a pump operably coupled to the tank via one or more valves. An outflow line with an outflow opening coupled to the pump that can be placed in fluid communication with the water jet tank. The system also includes an inflow line with an inflow opening coupled to the tank. At least a portion of the inflow line is adjacent the outflow line so that the inflow opening and outflow opening are proximate each other. The pump is configured to pump water from the tank, once the tank has been filled with water, to the water jet tank via the outflow line to unsettle the particulate material in the water jet tank, said flow of water configured to draw a generally equal amount of water and particulate material into the tank via the inflow line in a closed-loop manner, without the particulate material passing through the pump.

    • The Multilayer Energy Dissipating Inlet Column (MEDIC) in a center-feed clarifier consists of a plurality of perforated and concentric columns and a circular cover, which closes the bottom of the multilayer column. In the wall of each perforated column many flow inlet ports are mounted. The layout of the flow inlet ports between any two adjacent perforated columns is staggered to create a puzzled flow path and flow impingement among the layers of MEDIC. The strong influent jet due to the small influent area in a center-feed clarifier continuously impinges with the multilayer perforated columns one after another one. The resistance created by the multiple perforated columns slows down the influent jet and evenly distributes it among all of the inlet ports in the wall of the most outside column. The ability of MEDIC to confine the turbulence entering into clarifiers effectively lowers the dispersed sludge blanket in clarifiers and increases their capacity.

    • A refuse/oil removing device and a refuse/oil recovery bag are provided which can remove refuse and oil contained in drainage discharged from a restaurant in a simple manner without contact with the refuse and oil. A support base 46 of support means 40 is disposed in the interior of a grease trap 10 at a position higher than a water level 36b. A recovery bag 42 is attached to the support means 40 and plural layers of bag portions 68a, 68b, and 68c of the recovery bag 42 are put on the support base 46. The bag portions 68a, 68b, and 68c are each formed of a material which permits the adhesion of oil thereto and a large number of water passing holes 72 are formed in each of the bag portions 68a, 68b, and 68c. Drainage is introduced inside the innermost one of the plural layers of bag portions 68a, 68b, and 68c and is passed through the bag portions 68a, 68b, and 68c in this order, allowing refuse and oil to adhere to the bag portions. In this way the work of replacing the recovery bag 42 can be simplified and the amount of oil accumulated within the grease trap 10 can be decreased.
