摘要： A filter system for dishwasher with a sump having inlets leading to a wash pump and a drain pump in the bottom wall. The filter assembly includes a vertical filter retainer an overlying perforate hood, a multiple porosity filter element carried on the filter retainer and a back wash sprayer rotatably mounted inside the filter retainer with at least one backwash nozzle directed toward the filter assembly. The inlet leading to the wash pump is positioned inside the filter element and the inlet to the drain pump is located outside the filter element. The filter element has openings that vary in size from the top to the bottom of the filter element. The filter element openings can be arranged in bands of different porosity openings including fine, medium and coarse porosity openings. The perforate hood can have coarse porosity openings.

摘要： A pump priming sensing system for managing a filtration system is provided. The sensing system is capable of monitoring the state of the motor that operates the pump in a dishwasher to determine if the pump is receiving enough water to operate at a normal torque level. A filter is provided above the pump inlet to the pump. When a mixture of water and air is received through the pump inlet, the torque level falls. The motor transmits this decrease in torque level to a controller, which activates a filter cleaning system to clean the filter of soil/food/debris loosed from the dishes being cleaned in the dishwasher. Once the filter has been cleaned, normal operation of the dishwasher is resumed with the pump operating at a normal torque level.

摘要： A dishwasher having a speed-controlled induction motor coupled to a pump to drive the pump during dishwasher operation. A motor controller is connected to the induction motor to control the speed of operation of the induction motor. A dishwasher controller is connected to the motor controller for sending signals to, and receiving signals from, the motor controller during operation to control the motor speed. The flow rate of water through the pump discharge to a spray arm is controlled based on the phase of the wash cycle and the condition of the filter that blocks food debris from entering the sump. The motor speed is decreased to decrease the pump flow rate when the flow rate through the filter decreases in an early phase of the wash cycle. The motor speed is increased to increase the pump flow rate during later phases of the wash cycle. In steady state operation, the flow rate through the filter is matched to the flow rate through the pump discharge.

摘要： A dishwasher includes a wash and rinse system that operates to dislodge soil particles that adhere to internal surfaces of a washing chamber. During wash and rinse cycles, the washing chamber is initially filled to a first level with washing fluid. The washing fluid is drawn into a wash system through operation of a pump, that causes the washing fluid in the washing chamber to fall to a second level, and directed to a spray arm that sprays jets of washing fluid onto the kitchenware. Thereafter, the wash system enters a pause period during which the washing fluid is caused to return to the first level in the washing chamber to loosen particles from walls of the chamber. After the pause period, the trajectory of the jets of washing fluid is varied to further clean the kitchenware and the internal surfaces of the washing chamber.

摘要： An automatic dishwasher having a wash chamber is provided with a filter for filtering wash liquid circulated in the wash chamber. The filter includes a filter chamber outside the wash chamber. An inlet to and outlet from the filter chamber in a wall of the wash chamber allows wash liquid circulating in the wash chamber to enter the filter chamber and to flow out of the filter chamber through a filter element back into the wash chamber for filtering particulate material from wash liquid circulating in the wash chamber. A drain outlet at the bottom of the filter chamber allows wash liquid and material filtered by the filter to flow to the household drain. Sensors can be provided to detect a clogged or partially clogged filter and initiate a purge cycle to remove wash liquid and material filtered by the filter to the household drain.
