    • A method of selectively utilizing a set of linear actuator motors for an application includes providing a plurality of linear actuator motors numbered from 1 to N including a box shaped housing with respective lengths between a first end-plate and a second end-plate and respective hollow shafts. Each hollow shaft includes an extended portion out of either the first end-plate or the second end-plate and configured to receive a nut including a tube part integrally connected with a flat-end part. The nut is configured to be able to mate in a common manner to any of the plurality of linear actuator motors. The method further includes testing any of the plurality of linear actuator motors including the nut for the application, wherein the nut is detached from one linear actuator motor to reattach with another linear actuator motor.

    • Embodiments of the present invention provide an integrated air-mover and position sensor for an electric motor. One or more fins may be attached to a position sensor and adapted to generate a movement of air when the position sensor rotates with a rotor shaft. Such an arrangement not only allows the position sensor to sense positions of the electric motor, but also provides air-cooling functions for cooling the motor driver efficiently, thus improving product reliability. The position sensor may be an optical encoder or a capacitive sensor. Alternatively, one or more fins may be disposed within the electric motor and attached directly onto a rotor shaft of the electric motor to create a movement of air for cooling the motor driver directly and efficiently.

    • There is provided an electric driving unit for X-type gun made up by combining a pressure application driving body with a motor, wherein the electric driving unit is attached to a fixed arm or a gun bracket utilizing a housing of the motor, thereby obtaining the electric driving unit for X-type gun capable of rendering the electric driving unit to be compact and held stably, and causing the maintenance thereof to be executed with reliability and ease. The electric driving unit for X-type gun, wherein the pressure application driving body and a motor are combined with each other, comprises: a rotary shaft provided in the motor and formed of a hollow shaft to which a screw shaft is secured; a guide bearing provided at the front end side of the motor for guiding the pressure application shaft; said pressure application shaft having: a part to be driven by the motor and pulled into the motor; a hollow part for containing therein a tip end side of the screw shaft; a nut to be threaded with the screw shaft; and a bearing provided at the front thereof for causing the rear end of the swing arm to be journalled to the pressure application shaft by a pivotal shaft; said electric driving unit for X-type gun still further comprising: a housing provided at the front end of the motor; a bearing provided in the housing for bearing a load applied to the rotary shaft of the motor in the axial direction thereof; and a bearing provided in the housing for causing the housing to be journalled to the fixed arm or causing the housing to be journalled to the gun bracket by a pivotal shaft.

    • A motor-driven X-type resistance spot welding gun. A servo-controlled motor torque is converted into force to drive gun arms and into electrode force by using a reduction gear without converting rotational output of the motor into rectilinear motion. The two arms are respectively attached to an output shaft of the reduction gear or a case, and the rotational output of the motor can be converted into swing-wise movement to close and open the arms. The electrode tips on the arms nip a workpiece to apply electrode force to the workpiece, and current is passed through the workpiece to perform spot welding. A motor, a reduction gear and the like are assembled on a common base to form a driving unit so that an arm actuator for the X-type resistance spot welding gun is formed. The same driving unit can be used commonly to various X-type gun models. The independent properties of functions of a bracket for attaching the welding gun to a robot are improved. Since properties of the arm actuator and the bracket are not dependent on a welding unit of the gun (portion through which welding current flows), the production cost for a manufacturer and maintenance cost for a user are reduced.
