摘要： An information recording method in which an energy beam is irradiated to a recording medium and a basic recording pattern is generated. The basic recording pattern has a first power level provides a first state and a second power level providing a second state. Based upon a period of a recording timing generating clock in a recording mode, and a relative velocity of the energy beam and the recording medium, there is formed a first sequence of the second state and the first state based upon parameters as a first small recording pattern, a second sequence which starts with the first state and ends with the first state as a second small recording pattern, a state in which the second small recording pattern follows said the small recording pattern as the basic recording pattern, and a state in which the basic recording patterns are repeated as a recording pattern.

摘要： Heretofore, if the recording mark arranging method in a track is changed, the physical format on the disk is also changed, as in DVD-Rs and DVD-RAMs. This makes it difficult to attain interchangeability between data recorded in a plurality of different recording mark arranging methods. There is provided a method which makes it possible to arbitrarily set a frequency conversion multiplying factor to be used when generating a write clock from a signal obtained by detecting track deformation periodically provided on a recording track, which makes it possible to arbitrarily set a total number of channel bits in a single track, and which thereby implements a plurality of different recording mark arranging methods on disks having the same physical format.

摘要： Conventionally, as in the case of switching between a DVD-R and a DVD-RAM, when the method of record mark arrangement in a track is changed, the physical format of the disk is also changed. This makes it difficult to ensure compatibility between pieces of data recorded by a plurality of different methods of record mark arrangement. According to the present invention, sector address data and block address data are recorded in each sector by using wobbling or deformation of a recording groove. Then, depending on which address is used, sector data structure is modified, thereby making it possible to select an address data detection and a data structure on a disk in a single physical format depending on the purpose.

The optical disk apparatus includes a drive waveform information storage unit for storing at least one information of a drive waveform for driving a laser diode in response to a binary recording signal to be recorded in a recording medium, and a drive waveform decoder for decoding the drive waveform based on the information stored in the drive waveform information storage unit. A recording strategy can be changed in accordance with variations and fluctuations of recording media or characteristics of the recording media, while at the same time reducing a number of signal lines in flexible wiring and alleviating effects of signal distortion in the signal lines.

摘要： A method of and apparatus for recording information are disclosed, which obviate the problem that the average power of the middle pulse chain cannot be controlled simply by controlling the two pulse levels of the middle pulse chain in an energy beam for recording the information. The energy beam is multi-pulsated and radiated on the recording medium for forming a recording mark. The average power of the middle pulse chain is measured and set to a predetermined value. As a result, the average power of the first pulse, the middle pulse chain and the last pulse of the multi-pulse chain can be accurately controlled.

The apparatus has a track offset adjustment circuit for adjusting the track offset during recording and does not adjust the track offset during reproduction. Turning the offset adjustment circuit on during recording prevents increased cross-erasure, while turning the offset adjustment circuit off during reproducing expands the margin versus crosstalk.
