    • A density-adjusting method of a liquid-discharging apparatus having a head including a plurality of juxtaposed liquid-discharging units having respective nozzles, forming dots by landing droplets discharged from the nozzles onto a droplet-landing object, and providing half tones by arranging a dot array is provided. A density-measuring pattern including all pixel trains lying in the main scanning direction with a constant density is formed, the density of the pattern is scanned so as to obtain density information and the relationship between the number and the density of droplets with respect to each pixel train. Upon receipt of a discharge command signal, based on the obtained data with respect to each pixel train, the density of the pixel train corresponding to the discharge command signal is adjusted by making the number of droplets to be actually discharged from the nozzles different from that of droplets discharged according to the discharge command signal.

    • The liquid discharge apparatus including a head having liquid dischargers capable of deflecting the trajectories of discharged droplets in a plurality of directions. At least two of the liquid dischargers neighboring each other are capable of discharging droplets in the same pixel area. When there is a shut-off liquid discharge due to droplet discharge failure, this information is stored. According to the stored information, the discharge signal corresponding to the droplets the shut-off discharger were supposed to discharge is transferred to another liquid discharger in the vicinity of the shut-off discharger. This other liquid discharger alternatively discharges droplets so that the droplets land in a position the droplets would have had landed if they were discharged by the shut-off discharger.

    • A liquid ejection head includes a plurality of liquid ejection elements arrayed in a flat area on a substrate. Each liquid ejection element includes a liquid chamber, a heating element disposed in the liquid chamber, and a nozzle. The heating elements are disposed alternately on a first and second lines spaced by 6 in a zigzag fashion. Each liquid chamber is formed to have a U-like shape in horizontal cross section such that a wall thereof surrounds three sides of a heating element disposed in each liquid chamber. A gap Wx is formed between each two adjacent liquid chambers located on the second line, and a gap Wy is formed between the liquid chambers located on the first line and the liquid chambers located on the second line. The gaps Wx serve as first common flow channels, and the gap Wy serves as a second common flow channel.
