    • An optical branching filter branches or mixes lights of n-kind of wavelengths. An input/output port for the light mixed n-kind of wavelengths is provided to one of two surfaces of the transparent block and second input/output parts for forming optical filters allowing only the lights having the predetermined wavelengths to pass therethrough, respectively among the lights in n-kind of wavelengths, but reflecting the lights having other wavelengths, respectively is provided to any one of two surfaces. A first input/output port and n second input/output ports, respectively is formed by an optical waveguide and a lens which optically connects the optical waveguide and first input/output part or a second input/output part. Positions of each second input/output port are selected so that the length of optical paths formed between the lenses of the first input/output port in the second input/output port are in the reverse proportion to the lengths of wavelengths corresponding to the second input/output portions.

    • An improvement in the structure for connecting various optional units to the body of a printer, copier or like recording apparatus and to each other. The optional units include a mass feed unit for feeding a large amount of paper sheets, a stack unit for stacking paper sheets discharged, and a re-feed unit for conditioning copies for re-feed. The optional units are accurately matched to each other and to the apparatus body when they are connected to the latter, without resorting to changes in the configuration of paper transport paths. Any of the units which has an outlet opening is provided with a device for changing the direction of transport of an outgoing paper sheet.

    • A developing unit is adapted to be inserted into or withdrawn from a recording system and carries on a recording unit including a recording member in the form of an endless belt. A pair of rollers which support and drive the recording member as well as a developing sleeve which is utilized for converting a latent image formed on the record into a visual image are substantially aligned with each other in a direction which is parallel to the direction in which the developing unit is inserted or withdrawn. A transmission member is disposed at a location offset substantially perpendicular to such direction and transmits power from the recording system to one of the drive rollers which support the record. The power transmission takes place from the transmission member to the drive roller and then to the developing sleeve.

    • A recording system including a recording member of the endless belt form in which a series of information is recorded while the recording member is being moved, deviation sensing means operative to sense a deviation of the recording member, deviation correcting means operative to correct the deviation of the recording member, and a control circuit for actuating the deviation correcting means based on a signal generated by the deviation sensing means upon sensing the deviation.A deviation of the recording member of the endless belt form can be corrected without causing deformation of the recording member, and the recording system can be fabricated simply at low cost.
