    • A seismic alarm device for vehicles which is capable of detecting an earthquake while the vehicle is moving and gives the alarm upon occurrence of the earthquake in order to provide the safety such as by stopping the motor vehicle, wherein a plurality of acceleration detectors are mounted on the front and rear of the vehicle or on the left and right sides of the vehicle, output signals generated from these acceleration detectors are fed to a determination circuit, which determination circuit is arranged to measure an amplitude and period of the output signals and to compare phases of the output signals, then to output an alarm signal if the amplitude of the output signals is larger than a predetermined value while their periods are within a predetermined range and no phase difference exists between the output signals of the acceleration detectors, and an alarm circuit gives the alarm when the determination circuit outputs the alarm signal.

    • An improved anchor which can be easily separated massive obstacles merely by pulling the anchoring line. The anchor comprises a shank having a crown end and a rotatable shaft attached to the crown end and extending substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the shank, at least one fluke mounted on the shaft, locking device for restricting the rotational movement of the shaft within an angular range so that the angle of the fluke relative to the axial direction of the shank is below 90.degree. under normal locking condition, and unlocking device for shifting the locking device from the normal locking condition to a condition at which the shaft is allowed to rotate so that the angle of the fluke relative to the axial direction of the shank becomes more than 90.degree., the unlocking device being connected to an anchoring line through an anchor retrieving device.

    • An anchor retrieving device adapted to be interposed between an anchor and one end of a main anchoring line. The anchor includes a shank having a crown end and at least one fluke. The anchor retrieving device comprises: a lock assembly having an upper end connected to the one end of the main anchoring line and a lower end connected to the crown end of the anchor through an anchor-retrieving line; a releaseable hook member having one end normally locked by the lock assembly and the other end normally housed in the lock assembly at a position adjacent to the lower end of the lock assembly, the other end being connected through a connection line to the end of the shank opposite to the crown end; and a weight slidably engaging the main anchoring line and dropped downwardly along the main anchoring line to strike the lock assembly; the lock assembly including a housing for accommodating the releaseable hook member during the normal anchoring operation, a movable locking block housed in the housing for movement between a locking position and an unlocking position along the axial direction of the housing, and a spring normally biasing the movable locking block into its locking position and releasing the releaseable hook member when struck by the weight to allow the releaseable hook member to come out of the housing.

    • A sensor for detecting leaks of a corrosive liquid is provided comprising a pair of plate electrodes made of a conductive metal which is corroded by the liquid to be detected spaced apart and separated by an inner sheet of an electrically insulating material, the inner sheet having a plurality of through-holes, this entire construction being sealingly encased between a pair of outer insulating sheets, at least one of which has a plurality of through-holes. In use, if a leak occurs the liquid passes through the through-holes in the outer insulating sheet, dissolves a portion of one electrode and passes through the through-holes in the inner sheet to the second electrode, causing a short circuit resulting in a rapid and accurately measurable decrease in the resistance in the circuit and, therefore, detection of the leak.

A vapor-liquid separator having a first opening on the bottom wall thereof and second and third openings on the side wall thereof is installed on the evaporator in such a manner that the vapor-liquid separator communicates with the evaporator through the first opening. The compressor is connected to the side wall of the vapor-liquid separator so as to communicate the second opening with the suction passage of the compressor and the third opening with the discharge passage of the compressor, respectively. A separation element is disposed in the vapor-liquid separator so as to cross the flow of the refrigerant vapor which flows from the first opening toward the second opening.
