The hydrogenation is carried out in the presence of a strong acid and the salt of the 3-aminoalkanoic acid ester (I) and the strong acid formed is optionally converted into the free 3-aminoalkanoic acid ester (I) or into another salt in a manner known per se.

A closing spring is received in the frame underneath the barrel for urging the slide in a forward direction.
