摘要： A yarn which is configured by using expanded graphite and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTEE) is provided while improving the yarn so that the expanded graphite functioning as a core member is not exposed and it can be simply produced. The yarn is formed by: forming a base member configured by enveloping an expanded graphite sheet member with a PTEE film, in a state where the PTEE film and the expanded graphite sheet member are aligned with each other in longitudinal direction; and twisting the base member. The base member has an approximately circular sectional shape, and is configured by enveloping the expanded graphite sheet member having a rounded sectional shape with the PTEE film which is rounded in a pipe-like shape.

In the gland packing, ring-like projected parts are disposed on end faces of a die mold packing part made of an expanded graphite tape windingly laminated into a spiral shape so as to be integrated with the part. Ring-like seal members are brought into tight contact with the end faces of the die mold packing part excluding the ring-like projected parts in such a manner that the ring-like projected parts are projected in an axial direction beyond the outer faces of the respective ring-like seal members.

摘要： An expanded graphite sealing material is provided in which the adaptability of the principal face of an expanded graphite base member is improved, the bonding strength to a coating layer and the like can be increased, and the sealing properties can be enhanced. A method of producing such a sealing material, and a gasket sheet using the sealing material are also of concern. On at least a portion of a principal face of the expanded graphite base member in which expanded graphite particles are pressurized and integrated together, opened thin-leaf graphite portions are formed. The principal face of the expanded graphite base member having the thin-leaf graphite portions can be impregnated with a sealing member such as PTFE or covered with a coating layer. As the form of the sealing material, a sheet, a press-molded product, a fabric, a string, or a braided article can be adopted.
