    • An image forming apparatus is disclosed that includes a fixing device including: a fixing member; and a pressure member configured to be pressed against the fixing member in order to form a nip portion, wherein a sheet configured to be fed into the nip portion in order to fix unfixed toner image thereon; a compressor configured to supply compressed air; a nozzle configured to be disposed at an outlet side of the nip portion and to blast the compressed air to an adhered portion of the sheet to the fixing member; and a controller configured to correct open-time of the nozzle based on image forming condition and to control number of times that the compressed air is blasted to the sheet in accordance with length of corrected open-time, wherein the open-time of the nozzle is determined in accordance with basis weight of the sheet.

    • Upon a drop in engine rotation speed, a direct current voltage which periodically changes is applied to coils of pole magnets 18u-18w, thereby causing an increase or reduction in the rotation speed of the second flywheel 21. When the rotation speed of a first flywheel 11 matches the rotation speed of the second flywheel 21, a current is applied to a coil 24 to displace the second flywheel 21 to the first flywheel 11 side such that the second flywheel 21 is connected to the first flywheel 11 via dog clutches 26. Thereby, the shock which is produced upon connection of a second flywheel is reduced, and slippage occurring during connection of a second flywheel is also reduced.

    • In a hollow-fiber permeability apparatus, a permeating region of a housing contains a bundle of hollow fibers, and materials can selectively permeate through the membranes formed by the permeable walls of the hollow fibers, between a first fluid flowing along the exteriors of the hollow fibers, and another fluid flowing the interiors of the hollow fibers. The apparatus includes at least one first opening and at least one second opening for passing the first fluid, formed in both end portions of the housing; an enlarged cross-section portion formed between the first and second openings and surrounding substantially the whole circumferential surface of the bundle of hollow fibers in the housing; and at least one third opening for passing the first fluid, connected to the enlarged cross section portion, said first and second openings being used as a fluid inlet opening, and the third opening being used as a fluid outlet opening, or the first and second openings being used as the fluid outlet opening, and the third opening being used as the fluid inlet opening.
