    • Disclosed is a liquid discharge apparatus that allows a discharge head to discharge liquid to a predetermined object. The apparatus includes the following elements. A plurality of discharge heads are detachable independently. A head switching circuit switches a target discharge head to another target discharge head among the discharge heads in a set switching order to allow the target discharge head to discharge liquid. A monitoring circuit monitors liquid discharge conditions of the respective discharge heads. The liquid discharge conditions of each discharge head include the frequency of use of the discharge head and the presence or absence of a failure in the discharge head. A life determining circuit determines the life of each discharge head on the basis of the result of monitoring by the monitoring circuit. A target head setting circuit sets each of the discharge heads having a remaining life to the target discharge head and sets the switching order so that the frequencies of use of the target discharge heads are imbalanced. A notifying circuit provides a notification for urging replacement of the discharge head whose remaining life is lower than a predetermined value.

    • A printing method includes performing correction of an ink ejection amount for a certain area based on a correction value for a first type row region, and performing correction of an ink ejection amount for another area based on another correction value. The certain area includes a plurality of the first type row regions adjacent to each other in a transport direction of a medium. The first type row region is a region in which a dot row is formed in a movement direction that intersects the transport direction by performing a predetermined number of times a movement-and-ejection operation in which ink is ejected from a nozzle while the nozzle is moved in the movement direction. The other area is located on the downstream side in the transport direction from the certain area, and includes a plurality of second type row regions and a plurality of the first type row regions in the transport direction. The other correction value is obtained by increasing a degree of the correction based on the correction value for the first type row region as a distance from the certain area decreases. The second type row region is a region in which a dot row is formed in the movement direction by performing the movement-and-ejection operation another predetermined number of times that is more than the predetermined number of times. A ratio of the second type row regions decreases as the distance from the certain area decreases.

The image characteristic value used by the selected image ordering rule is obtained for each of a plurality of images. The order of arrangement of a plurality of images is determined based on the selected image ordering rule and the image characteristic values for a plurality of images. The number of images to be placed on each page is determined based on the maximum number of images that can be included in each page of the electronic album. An electronic album in which a plurality of images are laid out on multiple pages in sequential order is created in accordance with the order of arrangement of a plurality of images and the number of images to be placed on each page.
