    • A color image forming apparatus is provided, and includes a plurality of image forming units including a photosensitive drum, a charging device and a developing device; a carriage for retaining and rotating the plurality of image forming units so as to move the image forming units between an image forming position and a waiting position; an exposing device for exposing a surface of the photosensitive drum of the image forming unit located at the image forming position; an intermediate transfer belt for successive transfer and superposition of toner images of various colors from the photosensitive drum of the image forming units located at the image forming position so as to form a color toner image; a drive member for driving the photosensitive drum and the intermediate transfer belt; a position detector for detecting a reference position of the intermediate transfer belt when the intermediate transfer belt is driven, and outputting a reference position detection signal; a secondary transfer roller for transferring the color toner image on the intermediate transfer belt onto recording paper; and a controller for controlling the operation of the above structural elements. The controller determines an operation start time of the charging device and the developing device using a rotation command signal to the driving means as a reference, and an operation start time of the exposing device, the intermediate transfer belt and the secondary transfer roller using the reference position detection signal as a reference.

    • In a color image forming apparatus, a plurality of image forming units 3Y, 3M, 3C and 3K, which correspond to a plurality of colors and with each unit including a developing device and a photosensitive drum, are retained so as to define a cylinder. The color image forming apparatus includes: a conveying apparatus for conveying the plurality of image forming units around the main axis of the cylinder between an image forming position and a waiting position by simultaneously rotating all image forming units; an exposing device 6 for exposure of the photosensitive drum of the image forming unit that is in the image forming position 10; a transfer apparatus 5, which contacts a transfer belt 50 with the photosensitive drum 30 of the image forming unit that is in the image forming position, and when the image forming unit that is in the image forming position is switched, successively transcribes the toner images of all colors formed on the photosensitive drums onto the transfer belt, superimposes the toner images of all colors and forms a colored toner image on the transfer belt; and a transfer belt driving apparatus for driving the transfer belt at a constant speed. When a second color image is formed after a first color image, the first toner image color of the second color image is formed on the transfer belt by using the image forming unit of the last color added to the first color image. The exposing device includes a light source accommodated by the inner portion of the cylinder defined by the image forming units.

    • A surface mounting type antenna system 10 is formed by spirally winding a conductor 14 made of copper or copper alloy, with a power supply member 12 provided at one end of the conductor 14, the other end thereof being a free end 13, on the edge faces of a rectangular parallelepiped as a dielectric substrate 11 by printing, deposition, pasting or plating. The dielectric substrate 11 is prepared by stacking a plurality of layers of ceramics, resin or a combination of ceramics and resin.     • A fixing apparatus includes a heating element with an NTC characteristic in which an electric resistance value decreases as a temperature increases, which extends (i) in a direction parallel to a recording paper and (ii) in a width direction perpendicular to a carrying direction of the recording paper, and which has a longer length, in the width direction, than a width of the recording paper. The fixing apparatus further includes electrode sections provided in close proximity to both ends of the heating element in the width direction), the electrode sections being connected to the heating element, so that a current flows in the heating element in a direction substantially perpendicular to the carrying direction of the recording paper. This makes it possible to restrain excessive increase in temperature at the both ends of the heating element and to obtain a uniform temperature distribution.
