    • A preferred embodiment of a method of this invention includes the steps of: connecting the portable input device to a computer; changing a configuration pointer of the computer from pointing to computer configuration data of the computer to pointing to a selected computer configuration data of the portable input device, and, simultaneously, changing a disk pointer of the computer from pointing to a main data storage of the computer to pointing to a data storage of the portable input device; obtaining the selected computer configuration data and at least one predetermined folder; changing the configuration data pointer of the computer from pointing to the computer configuration data of the portable input device to pointing to the preferred computer configuration data of the computer, and simultaneously, resetting the disk pointer of the computer when the connection between the computer and the portable input device is disabled.

    • A preferred embodiment of the touch sensing apparatus includes one or more touch sensing units, a detector, and a signal processing unit. Each touch sensing unit comprises: a differential signal source for generating two signals which have a same frequency but reverse phases; and two sensors for receiving a touch signal of a user's finger. One sensor is connected to an anode of the differential signal source, and the other sensor is connected to a cathode of the differential signal source. The detector is for converting the received signal into a digital signal. An input terminal of the detector is connected to the sensors of each touch sensing unit. The signal processing unit is for determining which sensor is touched according to the frequency and phase of the signal output from the detector. The signal processing unit is connected to an output terminal of the detector. The touch sensing unit may further include a reference signal circuit.

    • An input device is provided. The input device has a storage unit, a microcontroller, and a plurality of input units for generating operational inputs. The storage unit is for storing information, typically private, sensitive files/documents. Furthermore, when locked, the storage unit is not allowable for access. The microcontroller includes a password comparing module and an unlocking module. The password comparing module is for comparing the operational inputs from the input units with a predetermined password, and generating an unlock signal if the operational inputs match the predetermined password. The unlocking module is electrically connected to the password comparing module, and is configured for unlocking the storage unit in response to the unlock signal, thereby enabling a computer system connected thereto to access the storage unit. Related methods are also provided.
