摘要： This invention relates to an ink jet recording apparatus with a support member for supporting an ink jet recording head for effecting recording by ink discharge onto a recording material, comprising: recording material transport means for transporting the recording material from a feeding position through a recording position to a discharge position; and recovery means for maintaining and restoring the ink discharge state of said ink jet recording head. The driving source for driving the recording material transport means or support member is also used for driving the recovery means, and, when the power supply to the apparatus is turned on, the initial operations of at least the recording material transport means and the recovery means are conducted utilizing a single sensor.

摘要： An ink jet recording device has a recording head with a first array of ink discharge ports for emitting a first ink and a second array of ink discharge ports arranged for emitting a second ink, the first and second inks being of different colors, a main scanning element for moving the recording head relative to a recording medium for a main scanning during an emission of the inks by the recording head, and a subsidiary scanning element for moving the recording head relative to the recording medium by a predetermined subsidiary scanning distance during a non-ink-emission by the recording head. The first and second arrays of ink discharge ports are arranged with a separation between arrays that is not less than the predetermined subsidiary scanning distance in the direction by the subsidiary scanning element.

摘要： An ink jet recording apparatus comprises an ink jet head having an ink path communicating with a discharge opening for discharging ink; electrodes arranged in said ink path; a residual ink quantity detection means for detecting residual ink quantity in said ink path in accordance with a resistance value, current value or voltage value from said electrodes; and a correction means for correcting said resistance value, current value or voltage value in accordance with the difference in a resistance of the ink. This enables the correction means to compensate for different ink resistances and thus provide accurate residual ink detection even when different inks are used or ink resistance changes because of a change in ambient conditions.

The generated data for dark ink is converted into a binary signal which is suitable for reproducing the resolution, while data for light ink is converted to another binary signal which is suitable for expressing gradient. 摘要： An ink jet recording apparatus comprises a detachably mountable ink jet cartridge including an ink jet recording head for ejecting ink into a recording medium and an ink supply source containing ink for supply to the recording apparatus, which ink supply source has electrodes for passing an electric current through the ink in said ink supply source. A resistance-determining circuit determines a reference resistance between the electrodes by applying an electric current thereto when the ink jet cartridge is mounted to the apparatus and determines a test resistance between the electrodes by applying the same electric current thereto after a predetermined amount of recording. The reference resistance is used to calculate a threshold resistance, which is stored for comparison to the test resistance to judge whether or not the amount of ink in the ink supply source has dropped to a level unsuitable for recording.

The control means selects the recording mode at least according to a number of colors of an image to be recorded on the recording medium and the second recording area produced by respective arrays during the one scanning operation are not overlapped in the scanning direction.

摘要： An ink jet recording device includes scanning means for scanning ink jet recording heads in a scanning direction, each of the recording heads having plural ink discharge generating elements and plural discharge ports associated therewith, the discharge ports being adapted to perform a recording operation within a recording area which is a total area covered by the discharge ports during one scanning operation, supplying means for supplying recording signals corresponding to the recording area to a group of the ink discharge energy generating elements, and conveying means for conveying a recording medium relative to the recording heads. A control means controls the ink jet recording heads, supplying means and conveying means so that when the control means operates in a first recording mode, a recording within the recording area is completed in a single scanning operation, and when the control means operates in a second recording mode, the recording within the recording area is completed by plural scanning operations such that the recording area is subjected to the overlapped recordings by different discharge ports. The control means selects the recording mode according to a condition relating at least to a material quality of the recording medium.
