    • A soft error correction method is for a memory system having memory access controllers accessing memories for storing byte-sliced data in cycle synchronism, and a system controller receiving a memory access from an arbitrary one of MPUs and issuing a memory address to the memory access controllers. When a correctable error is detected in data read from one memory, an error address where the error was detected is held within a memory access controller, and an error notification is made to the system controller from the memory access controller. In response to the error notification, the memory access controller holds the error address from the system controller without intervention from the MPUs, and reads, corrects and rewrites the data to the error address.

    • A remote operation includes an electromagnetic linear actuator that has a moving part linked to a handle of a circuit breaker, and drives the handle according to a remote operation command to perform change-over operations on the handle to ON, OFF, and RESET positions. The electromagnetic linear actuator is composed of permanent magnet type linear pulse motors each including a field section having a plurality of permanent magnets arranged in a row and a coil section having a three-leg type magnetic yoke and actuation coils wound around the legs of the magnetic yoke and opposing the field section. Electric current in the actuation coils is controlled by sequentially changing-over excitation patterns during the operation process, and the moving part is driven in a stepwise motion to drive the handle of the circuit breaker to the end position of the changeover operation process.

    • Sewing machine includes: a needle bar driven to move up and down to perform sewing operation; a jump mechanism electrically controlled to bring the needle bar to a jump sewing state; a holder member controlled to move, in synchronism with the up-and-down movement of the needle bar, for holding a sewing workpiece from above when the holder member is in its lowered position; and a holder mechanism for, when the sewing operation is to be stopped, moving the holder member upward to a predetermined evacuating position and mechanically retaining the holder member in the evacuating position; and an interlocking mechanism for mechanically retaining the needle bar in the jump sewing state in interlocked relation to the holder member being mechanically retained in the evacuating position. Thus, even when a sudden power failure has occurred, the needle bar of each machine head set in a resting state can be reliably retained in the jump sewing state, which can avoid deformation or breakage of component parts that might result from undesired descending movement of the needle bar.
