摘要： The invention provides an optical disk medium having a recording spiral formed by connecting groove tracks and land tracks alternately, and permitting detection of a connecting point between a groove track and a land track reliably is provided, and a method of tracking the optical disk medium and an optical disk drive apparatus for driving the optical disk medium. One part of an identification signal area is shifted by a predetermined distance in one radial direction from the center of a groove, while another part of the identification signal area is shifted by the same distance in the opposite radial direction from the center of the groove. A land/groove polarity of a sector is determined by the polarity of a tracking error signal and the order of the polarities during reproduction of an identification signal.

摘要： In an optical disk storing digital image information in the form of a succession of blocks, each comprising a plurality of frames comprising I-, P- and B-pictures, wherein an address format is preformatted in front of the block of image information of said plurality of frames, and the data arrangement within each image information blocks is such that I- and P-pictures are collectively disposed. The position of the I-pictures within each block is shifted from one block to another. The I-picture data may be divided into fraction according to the position on the screen, the DCT frequency, or layering, and the fractional I-picture data may be arranged in the image information blocks, and a header or parity signal is recorded in front of each fractional I-picture data. With such a configuration, it is possible to increase the speed of fast playback, and realize smooth playback picture.

摘要： In optical disk having a track formed of groove tracks and land tracks connected every revolution to form a single spiral, each revolution-of the tracks is divided into sectors, each having identification signal region at the head of the sector, and the identification signal regions in tracks adjacent to each other are aligned in the radial direction. Prepits are formed in the identification signal region, on an extension of a boundary between groove and land tracks adjacent to each other. The prepits have a width substantially equal to the width of the grooves. The identification signal including address information of the sector. The polarity of tracking error signal is detected at the identification signal region of the recording sector, and whether the recording sector is in a groove track or land track is determined based on the polarity of tracking error signal. The identification signal may include information concerning the timing for switching tracking polarity in accordance with whether groove or land sector is being scanned.

摘要： An optical disc using a single-spiral land and groove track format enabling accurate tracking offset correction and reliable detection of the transition point between a land track and a groove track, and a driving apparatus therefor. Four physical address areas PID1, PID2, PID3, and PID4 are recorded to a header area such that PID1 and PID2 are offset one-half track pitch toward the outside circumference of the disc from the groove track center, and PID3 and PID4 are offset one-half track pitch toward the inside circumference of the disc from the groove track center, and the physical address areas PID1-PID4 can be detected by means of a difference signal in the radial direction. The single frequency pattern area VFO at the beginning of each PID is lengthened by PID1 and PID3, thereby enabling tracking offset correction using a sum signal, and detection of the land-groove transition point using a difference signal obtained from the PID offset.

In the present invention, parallax information is utilized to store, in a recording medium, stereoscopic video including left-eye images and right-eye images. Particularly, for video content that contains stereoscopic images, information is obtained regarding the amount of variation in parallactic angle having a given or larger value, a variation time that the variation in parallactic angle takes, and the number of times that the variation in parallactic angle occurs. According to the present invention, the video content is encoded in such a manner that the evaluation value is within a given range, and then recorded in the recording medium.

The method then calculates an evaluation value that corresponds to the degree of eye fatigue on the basis of the amount of variation, the variation time, and the number of times of the variation, encodes the video content in such a manner that the evaluation value is within a given range, and records the encoded video content in the recording medium.
