    • A truss shoe for a roof support system includes a base member having a bearing surface and, optionally, an end having a sweeping radius for ease of moving the truss shoe into an installation position, a bolt receiving section having a bore hole, a cable engaging section, and an intermediate section. The cable engaging section includes an opening and a slot and, optionally, a lock-in device that allows a cable to move through the slot into the opening and retains the cable in the opening. In another non-limiting embodiment of the cable engaging section, the cable is moved into an assembly mounted in a conical-shaped passageway of the cable engaging section to compress the assembly around the cable. The intermediate portion includes a pair of side flanges on the base member between the bore and the opening and, optionally, a rib between the pair of side flanges.

    • A tensionable combination mine roof bolt is disclosed for use in resin grouted applications. The mine roof bolt includes a lower rod member having a rotatable bolt head at a first end thereof supporting a bearing plate and a threaded second end spaced from the first end. A coupling threadingly receives the lower rod member therein. A shearable stop device, such as a shear pin, is positioned within the coupling and adapted to stop the threaded lower rod member at a first position for rotation of the cable mine roof bolt during installation. After an upper portion of the cable mine roof bolt is secured, the shearable stop mechanism is subsequently sheared by the lower rod member to allow for tensioning of the cable mine roof bolt. A flexible multi-strand cable is coupled to the coupling device and forms the attachment point for the cable mine roof bolt.

    • The present invention provides a cable driving wrench assembly for thrusting and rotating a multi-strand cable mine rock anchor. The wrench assembly includes a wrench body having an open interior and a plurality of apertures in the wrench body extending into the open interior. Each aperture is adapted to receive an individual strand of the multi-strand cable when the individual strand has been separated from the remaining strands of the cable at least at one end of the cable. The open interior of the wrench body is adapted to receive one end of the cable through the plurality of apertures. A mechanism for thrusting and rotating the wrench body is attached thereto. The present invention additionally includes a cable opening tool for opening the strands of a multi-strand cable. The cable opening tool includes a rotatable tool body and a socket formed in the tool body. The socket is engageable with one end of the multi-strand cable to separate the individual strands from each other at one end of the cable upon rotation of the tool body.

    • An elongated rod fabricated of polymeric material for use in reinforcing an underground passage includes an integral structure of a shaft portion, washer element and torque receiving end portion. The shaft portion is fabricated of a preselected polymeric material as required to meet the strength requirements of the rod in reinforcing the rock formation surrounding the passage. For use in reinforcing the side walls of a passage, the rod is fabricated of plastic material recycled, for example, from plastic beverage containers. The integral construction eliminates the need to thread the end of the rod to receive a nut. The washer element seats against a bearing block compressed against the side wall. When used with a resin system, the rod is anchored in the bore hole to maintain the bearing block compressed against the side wall to support the surrounding rock strata.
