    • A display system comprising a video signal supplier supplying a video signal with a first video signal standard comprising a predetermined sync signal and a data range; a display apparatus supporting one of the first video signal standard and a second video signal standard comprising a sync signal and a data range which are at least being partially different to the first video signal standard and a data range being equal to the first video signal standard and outputting the video signal from the video signal supplier; a selector selecting the display apparatus supporting one of the first video signal standard and the second video signal standard; and a sync signal converter receiving a sync signal in the video signal from the video signal supplier according to a selection of the selector and converts the received sync signal into either the first video signal standard or the second video signal standard, which the selected display apparatus supports, to output the selected display apparatus. With this configuration, the present invention provides a display system which can alternatively select a video signal of one of a first video signal standard and a second video signal standard, which have a different sync signal standard, to output according to a selection of a user and a method of converting a sync signal thereof.

    • The patch for tooth whitening of the present invention includes a tooth-adhering layer (1) containing erodible polymer complexes formed by hydrogen bonding of a polymer with a carboxyl group (—COOH) and a polymer with a carbonyl group (—C═O) or ether group (—O—) and a tooth whitening agent; and an erosion rate-controlling layer (2) containing a mixture of a hydrophilic polymer and a film-forming polymer, wherein the patch is in a film form and is characterized by being eroded until extinguished after releasing the tooth whitening agent. When applied to the teeth, the patch releases a peroxide tooth-whitening agent while being hydrated by water in the mouth during a prescribed period, and thereafter, eroded until extinguished, thereby not requiring an additional detaching work from the teeth. Therefore, the patch is convenient in use and greatly reduces an obstruction sensation. Moreover, the patch has an excellent whitening effect.

The apparatus includes a component division unit that divides an input facial image into a plurality of facial component images; a face descriptor generating unit that generates face descriptors using a transform matrix corresponding to the respective facial component images, the face descriptors being characteristic vectors; a registered face descriptor database (DB) that stores registered face descriptors; and an authentication unit that authenticates the input facial image by comparing face descriptors for the input facial image input from the face descriptor generating unit with the registered face descriptors and providing predetermined weights corresponding to each facial component to the comparison results of each facial component.

    • Provided is a residual signal coding/decoding apparatus and method. The residual signal coding apparatus includes a transformer, an LPC coefficient extractor, an LPC coefficient quantizer, an LP analysis filter, a band splitter, a pulse searcher, and a pulse quantizer. The transformer transforms time-domain residual signals into a frequency domain to output transform coefficients. The LPC coefficient extractor extracts LPC coefficients from the transform coefficients. The LPC coefficient quantizer quantizes the LPC coefficients to output quantized LPC coefficients and corresponding indices. The LP analysis filter performs an LP analysis on the transform coefficients to output LP residual transform coefficients.
