    • A retainer can couple at least two components together and includes a retainer body defining a body opening and at least one leg extending from the retainer body. The leg can bend relative to the retainer body between a first position and a second position upon application of an external force. The leg includes a connection portion coupled to the retainer body, a support portion coupled to the connection portion, and a bendable portion interconnecting the connection portion and the support portion. The bendable portion can bend such that the leg can move relative to the retainer body between the first and second positions. When the leg is in the first position, the support portion is obliquely angled relative to the retainer body. When the leg is in the second position, the support portion is substantially parallel to the retainer body.

    • A camshaft assembly includes a base shaft extending along a longitudinal axis. The base shaft is configured to rotate about the longitudinal axis. The camshaft assembly further includes a series of lobe packs mounted on the base shaft. The lobe pack includes a first cam lobe, a second cam lobe, and a third cam lobe. The lobe pack further includes a barrel cam defining a control groove. The camshaft assembly further includes an actuator including an actuator body and at least one pin movably coupled to the actuator body. The lobe pack is configured to move axially relative to the base shaft between a first position, a second position, and a third position. These three lobe pack positions are used to define three discrete valve lift profiles for the intake or exhaust valves in the cylinder. The lift profiles can be different for each engine valve.

    • A system and method for controlling a combined heating and cooling vapor compression system are provided. The apparatus may be a vehicle and may include a cabin, a vehicle battery, a Rechargeable Energy Storage System (RESS), and a vapor-compression system, having at least one controller, operable in a variety of modes selectable to facilitate cooling, heating, and dehumidification of the vehicle cabin. The method may include steps to adjust evaporator air temperature to control comfort, fogging and smell in the cabin by adjusting the compressor speed; regulate heat pump performance by adjusting the output of an electric heater and adjusting the flow of coolant through the RESS chiller; and evaluating and optimizing the discharge pressure and suction pressure of the compressor by adjusting the compressor speed and adjusting the coolant flow through the RESS chiller.

    • A system includes a DC battery pack, an inverter coolant loop, first and second temperature sensors, a polyphase electric machine, and a power inverter module (PIM) connected to the battery pack and electric machine. The PIM includes a plurality of semiconductor switches. The controller is operable to selectively derate the PIM and thus reduce a commanded torque to the electric machine. The controller is programmed to execute a method and thereby receive a coolant temperature from the first temperature sensor and a PIM temperature from the second temperature sensor, and to determine a set of electrical values of the electric machine. The controller estimates a junction temperature of the semiconductor switches using the temperature of the coolant, the temperature of the PIM, and the set of electrical values. The controller selectively derates the PIM using the estimated junction temperature when the temperature of the PIM exceeds a calibrated maximum temperature.

    • A bar wound stator includes a stator core defining a plurality of slots. Bar-type conductors are disposed within each slot. Each slot includes a slot liner and an insulator cap. Each slot liner includes an end portion disposed against an inner wall surface, and side portions disposed against a first wall surface and a second wall surface respectively. Each insulator cap includes a base portion disposed against an outer wall surface, and side portions disposed against the first wall surface and the second wall surface respectively.
