摘要： Novel tumor specific phototherapeutic and photodiagnostic agents are disclosed. The compounds consist of a carbocyanine dye for visualization, photosensitizer for photodynamic treatment, and tumor receptor-avid peptide for site-specific delivery of the probe and phototoxic agent to diseased tissues. A combination of these elements takes full advantage of the unique and efficient properties of each component for an effective patient care management.

摘要： A method of pressure regulation and a ventilator are provided. The ventilator includes a positive relative pressure gas supply, a negative relative pressure gas supply, and a diverter valve. The diverter valve includes a positive pressure port connected to the positive relative pressure gas supply, a negative pressure port connected to the negative relative pressure gas supply, and a gas supply port communicating with a gas delivery device. The ventilator preferably further includes a feedback sensor that detects a gas supply difference between a gas supply and a predetermined gas supply and generates a feedback signal that is substantially related to the gas supply difference. The ventilator preferably further includes a diverter valve actuator communicating with the diverter valve and operating the diverter valve to communicate the positive relative pressure gas supply and the negative relative pressure gas supply to the gas supply port of the diverter valve based upon the feedback signal.

摘要： Cyanine dye bioconjugates useful for diagnostic imaging and therapy are disclosed. The conjugates include several cyanine dyes with a variety of bis- and tetrakis (carboxylic acid) homologues. The compounds may be conjugated to bioactive peptides, carbohydrates, hormones, drugs, or other bioactive agents. The small size of the compounds allows more favorable delivery to tumor cells as compared to larger molecular weight imaging agents. The various dyes are useful over the range of 350-1300 nm, the exact range being dependent upon the particular dye. Use of dimethylsulfoxide helps to maintain the fluorescence of the compounds. The inventive compounds are useful for diagnostic imaging and therapy, in endoscopic applications for the detection of tumors and other abnormalities, for localized therapy, for photoacoustic tumor imaging, detection and therapy, and for sonofluorescence tumor imaging, detection and therapy.

摘要： Sensors and monitors for a physiological monitoring system having capability to indicate an accuracy of an estimated physiological condition. The sensor senses at least one physiological characteristic of a patient and is connectable to a monitor that estimates the physiological condition from signals detected by the sensor. The sensor includes a detector for detecting the signals from the patient which are indicative of the physiological characteristic. The sensor is associated with a memory configured to store data that defines at least one sensor signal specification boundary for the detected signals. The boundary is indicative of a quality of the signals and an accuracy of the physiological characteristic estimated from the signals by the monitor. The sensor further includes means for providing access to the memory to allow transmission of the data that defines the at least one sensor boundary to the monitor.

摘要： The invention relates to novel aminocarboxylate ligands that are suitable for complexing with a radionuclide, and are useful as therapeutic agents and as imaging agents for diagnostic purposes. In accordance with the present invention, a method of preparing a compound of formula fac-[M(CO)3(OH2)3]+ (I) where M is MN, 99mTc, 186Re or 188Re, involves reacting a metal in permetallate form with carbon monoxide and stannous ion. The compound of formula (I) can be reacted with a ligand Lx to form a compound of the formula fac-[M(CO)3Lx]n (II) wherein M is as defined above, Lx is a monodentate or multidentate ligand or a mixture of these ligands, and n is a charge of the ligand Lx increased with one+charge. The invention also is directed to novel compounds, and kits for carrying out the disclosed methods.

摘要： A pulse oximetry sensor having a temperature indicator and a method of operating such a sensor to visually indicate to an operator the temperature of the sensor and hence a measure of the temperature of the tissue location to which the sensor is attached. In one embodiment, the temperature indicator is a color changing liquid crystal temperature monitor. The liquid crystal temperature monitor includes a number of segments, each of which is activateable within a predetermined temperature range to be monitored. In other embodiments of the present invention, the oximetry sensor includes an active regulated heating element to enhance blood perfusion within the tissue location being monitored. In either embodiment, the temperature indicator provides the operator with an effective way of monitoring the temperature of the sensor and the adjacent tissue location. In case of a heated sensor, the temperature indicator informs the operator that the warming function of the sensor is functioning correctly. In case of a nonheated sensor, the temperature indicator informs the operator regarding a measure of the degree of perfusion.
