    • An apparatus for controlling a plurality of actuators that assists in controlling the operation of a motorized vehicle. The apparatus includes a centralized actuator control module that is positioned remotely from an engine control unit. The centralized actuator control module includes a processor that is configured to control the operation of the actuators. The apparatus may include a first communication cable that is configured to deliver information between the centralized actuator control module and the engine control unit. An actuator communication cable may be configured to deliver power from the centralized actuator control module to one or more of the plurality of actuators. The apparatus may include a second communication cable configured to deliver sensed data to the centralized actuator control module that the centralized actuator control module uses to determine whether to operate one or more of the actuators.

    • An assembly for a fuel injector that includes a piston that is decoupled from the needle of a needle valve. The piston is slidingly positioned in a disk bore. The portion of needle in the disk bore is smaller than the disk bore so as to prevent the disk bore from interfering with movement of the needle between seated and unseated positions. During periods of operation, the upper surface of the piston is engaged by a control volume of fuel that pushes the needle toward a seated position, while the needle pushes in an opposing direction against a lower surface of the piston. The surface area of the piston acted on by the control volume is larger than the upper portion of the needle that is typically acted upon by the control volume, thereby providing a larger force on the piston that keeps the needle in a seated.

    • A controller for a vehicle pneumatic system loads a compressor responsive to engine power absorption by the engine and air storage facility air pressure readings up to a pressure limit. The controller is responds to power demand on the engine in excess of an engine speed related global maximum and air pressure readings down to a global minimum for unloading the compressor. The controller provides for loading and unloading the compressor to maintain storage facility pressure within an operating maximum and an operating minimum which lie between the global maximum and global minimum pressures. The controller responds to air pressure readings reaching or falling below the global minimum for loading the compressor and to air pressure readings reaching or exceeding the global maximum for unloading the compressor.
