    • A fan rotation speed control circuit of a power supply system is provided, which is applicable for controlling the rotation speed of the fan according to a loading state outputted by the power supply system. The fan rotation speed control circuit of the power supply system includes a waveform generating module, for generating an oscillating waveform signal; a current retrieving module, for retrieving a current signal corresponding to the loading state; a rotation speed control signal generating module, for comparing the oscillating waveform signal with the current signal, and generating a rotation speed control signal; a signal amplifying module, for amplifying an amplitude of the rotation speed control signal and outputting the amplified rotation speed control signal to the fan, so as to control the rotation speed of the fan.

    • Temperature readings obtained within a computer system from the location of monitored circuit elements may be oversampled at least three times, and a median average of the three parameter readings rather than the arithmetic mean may be used for controlling a device, e.g. a fan, configured to regulate the environmental parameter, e.g. temperature, a the location of the monitored circuit elements. For example, when a CPU temperature reading is requested by the system comprising the CPU, a thermal monitoring system may acquire at least three consecutive temperature readings of the CPU, discard the highest temperature reading and the lowest temperature reading, and return the median reading to be used in controlling a fan configured to regulate temperature at the location of the CPU, resulting in more accurate temperature readings and more accurate fan control. In various implementations, more than three readings may be considered at a time, and running averages based on median values may be computed in a variety of ways to obtain a temperature control value to control the fan.

    • The present invention provides a speed control device for a ceiling fan which comprises a MOSFET, a signal generator and an overload protector. The MOSFET is connected to the ceiling fan and power source via a bridge rectifier for controlling power supplied to said ceiling fan. The signal generator provides a control signal to the MOSFET, wherein the control signal is a cyclic signal whose voltage level is progressively increased and then decreased when it reaches a predetermined level whereby the MOSFET is cyclically and progressively turned on and turned off. The overload protector is connected between the drain and gate of said MOSFET for detecting an abnormally large current flow through said MOSFET to cut off said MOSFET thereby preventing the ceiling fan from possible damage.
