    • A multiple inspection system and method that inspects packages filled with at least two different medications that are to be consumed by a patient is described. The method includes filling each package with the at least two different medications. A package that is to be inspected is selected by a process control module. A first automated inspection examines the different medications with a first measurement device. A first measurement result is generated. A first automated inspection result is generated by comparing a first expected inspection value with the first measurement result. A second automated inspection having a second measurement device generates a second measurement result. A second automated inspection result is generated by comparing a second expected inspection value with the second measurement result. An analytical module then proceeds to compare the first automated inspection result and the second automated inspection result.

    • Robotic pick-and-place automation is used to transfer oral solid pharmaceuticals from moveable trays or canisters. A variety of sensors are used in order to automatically verify that the oral solid pharmaceuticals have been properly placed in the desired oral solid pharmaceutical package locations precisely according to the patient prescription data. A pharmacist places oral solid pharmaceutical products within dispensing trays or canisters which are used to present the oral solid pharmaceutical products for picking and placing via the robotic pick-and-place machinery. Once the canister or tray is located adjacent the pick-and-place device, a further sensor or imaging unit associated with the pick-and-place device verifies that the oral solid pharmaceutical product presented by the tray or canister matches the size and shape and/or color of an expected oral solid pharmaceutical product that is to be placed within the packaging material in accordance with patient prescription data that is stored by a computer associated with the system. Additional sensors automatically verify that each individual oral solid pharmaceutical specified by a patient prescription have been deposited into each specified package location strictly in accordance with the patient prescription data.

    • The present invention provides a coin handling machine the handling efficiency of which can be improved. On an operation unit 14, either a normal counting mode or a continuous counting mode is selected. Coins are counted by a count processing unit. A count abnormality in the count processing unit is detected by an abnormality detecting unit 68. In a case where a count abnormality is detected by the abnormality detecting unit 68 during count processing, when the normal counting mode is selected, a coin count value is cleared and a quantity error is prevented. In the case where a count abnormality is detected by the abnormality detecting unit 68 during count processing, when the continuous counting mode is selected, the coin count value is held, so that continuous processing is performed even if a count error occurs, so that the handling efficiency is improved.

    • A system for filling medication dose packs with oral-solid medication items comprises storage tray drawers each having storage trays. Each storage tray stores a specific type of oral-solid medication item. The storage tray drawers are displaceable to a drawn position to expose the storage trays thereof. A table supports dose packs having a plurality of receptacles arranged in rows, with each receptacle associated with an intake time and date of a patient prescription file. A dispensing mechanism has fingers for grasping by suction an oral-solid medication item, and degrees of freedom to displace the fingers from any one of the storage trays to the dose pack, to transfer the oral-solid medication items from the storage trays in the drawn position to the receptacles of the dose pack. A dispenser controller determines the specific types of oral-solid medication items required in the receptacles of the dose pack as a function of a patient prescription file, and actuates the dispensing mechanism to control displacements and the suction thereof to fill the dose packs from the patient prescription file.

    • A system and method are provided for optimizing the flow of seed along a seed handling path. The system and method include multiple stages at which seeds undergo different processes to prepare the seeds for sale or further handling. The stages may include one or more of Receiving, Husking, Sorting, Drying, Shelling, Bulk Storage, Sizing, Conditioning, Treating, and Packaging. Sensors may be located along the seed handling path for monitoring the seed handling path and the operations and conveyances occurring along the seed handling path at and between different stages. The sensors may provide feedback signals to a controller, which may in turn adjust the operating parameters of various processing devices associated with one or more of the stages in a real-time scenario to optimize the operations and conveyances occurring along the seed handling path.
