    • In a wire printer, in which a plurality of selected printing needles are simultaneously advanced to print a character, each printing needle is operated by a lever to which the plunger armature of an electromagnet is secured at a smaller distance from the lever fulcrum than the printing needle so that the needle stroke is greater and faster than the armature stroke. The lever is preferably resilient, and the mass of the needle is selected so that upon actuation of the armature, the lever is at first slowed down by the mass of the printing needle and then recoils to move at a higher speed than the armature, and to continue in a free stroke when the armature is stopped at the end of the armature stroke. Preferably, the attaching end portion of the wire which forms the printing needle, is wound in a coil around the lever to permit resilient yielding of the printing needle when abutting a printing surface at the end of the needle stroke.

    • A printing head for a mosaic printer includes a ring-shaped structure which supports a mounting bracket, and a number of guiding tubes for the printing needles are mounted on the bracket. Each of the guiding tubes has a plurality of openings and is surrounted by a porous oil impregnated sleeve for lubricating the needles. An electromagnetic actuator for each needle is mounted on the ring and includes a movable armature which engages an end of the corresponding needle when the actuator is energized. The core of the actuator is adjustably mounted on the ring, and an adjustment screw adjust the width at rest of the air gap and the stroke of the needle. A hinged elastic system connects the armature to the yoke of the actuator and includes a curved rider to provide rolling contact with the yoke.

    • A high-speed driving device for use in a high-speed printer or the like. The printer has actuatable printing elements each actuated from a rest position to a printing position. The highspeed driving device actuates each printing element with a plurality of actuators each comprising an electromagnetic system having a driving or operating electrical coil receptive of current pulses for developing opposite polarities in its core in conjunction with pole pieces forming a magnetic field for rocking to an operative position and to an inoperative rest position the core having a pole varied thereon and extending into a gap between the pole pieces. The core is constructed with a multiplicity of extensions or lever arms, one of which is normal to the core portion within the coil and engages a corresponding actuatable element to actuate it to its operative position when the core is rocked. The core is restored to its rest position by application to the operating coil of current of opposite polarity to the current actuating it to its operative position. A spring restores each actuatable printing element to its rest position in readiness for a next printing step. Each core is rockably mounted in a carriage for travel relative the actuation elements so that high-speed printing can be carried out.

    • A wire dot printer head which has an armature spacer having plural notches accommodating support shafts of plural armatures respectively supporting a printing wire, and an abrasion preventive member provided between the armature spacer and a yoke holding the support shafts of the plural armatures with the armature spacer for prevention of contact between the support shafts of the plural armatures and the yoke. As the support shafts of the armatures, protected by the abrasion preventive member, are not in direct contact with the yoke, abrasion of the surface of the yoke can be suppressed, and degradation of printing quality can be prevented.
