    • Aspects of the disclosure provide a method for network traffic scheduling. The method includes selecting, at a present node within a node hierarchy that multiplexes a plurality of input nodes to an output node, a winning node from a plurality of lower level nodes, obtaining first parameters provided from the winning node, the first parameters being in association with the winning node, determining second parameters in association with the present node at least partially based on the first parameters, and providing the second parameters in association with the present node to an upper level node in the node hierarchy for scheduling at the upper level node. To determine the second parameters in association with the present node, in an embodiment, the method includes using the first parameters to look up an entry in a lookup table that stores the second parameters in association with the first parameters.

    • A bifurcated selector for transmitting transactions from a plurality of transaction queues out a port of a switch. A transaction scheduler selects transactions of the queues for transmission to a device coupled to the port. A policy manager enforces a scheduling policy of the queues. An interface couples the policy manager to the transaction scheduler. The interface includes first signals for the transaction scheduler to receive from the policy manager a priority for each queue. The transaction scheduler selects the transactions for transmission to the device based on the priorities. The interface also includes second signals for the policy manager to receive from the transaction scheduler transaction transmission information for each queue. The policy manager updates the priorities based on the transaction transmission information. The transaction transmission information comprises an indication of which of the queues a transaction was selected from for transmission.

    • The present invention provides a method of scheduling packet in a wireless telecommunication system, in which the user packet queues to be transmitted are divided into the user packet queues with packet loss and the user packet queues without packet loss; for the user packet queues with packet loss, if a real time loss ratio of packet for the user exceeds a predetermined loss ratio threshold of packet, terminate a connection to the user; if the real time loss ratio of packet for the user does not exceed the predetermined loss ratio threshold of packet, schedule the user packet queues according to a volume of the loss ratio of packet; for the user packet queues without packet loss, schedule according to packet lengths, channel quality states, time delays and time delay jitters. The present invention decreases the packet loss ratio by giving priority to scheduling users with high packet loss ratio under the condition of existing a certain extent of packet loss, takes the requirements of user packet service sensitive to the time delay jitter into full consideration, and controls the time delay jitter to maintain invariable, therefore improves the telecommunication quality of those users.
