    • A method for addressing and locating WLAN communication node is disclosed in the present invention. The GSM or CDMA, which is characterized in broad coverage, the steadiest performance, and the most mature technology, is employed to confirm the subscribers' IP address. One of the communication parties sends data call to another party through GSM or CDMA and transmits the preset information package including the IP address of the calling party, which is processed by the system, to the other party. Then both parties can accomplish the WLAN interconnection based upon the known IP address in the WLAN. The method can also be applied to all the end-to-end communication system for addressing. The present invention relates to the mobile terminal adopting said method. The method can confirm the address information of the WLAN communication node conveniently, and rapidly, thereby decreasing the cost of communication, eliminating or lowering the dependence on the server of Internet so as to make the subscribers communicate more flexibly and conveniently.

    • The present invention accomplishes billing and collection of multimedia IP calls with receiver designated fee schemes, enabling advance services such as personal 800 or 900 service in the conventional telephony. Internet users register as members via member sub-system, and acquire a unique member ID across the member pool by downloading and installing client-software, and login to the communication sub-system and enter a “stand-by for communication” mode. Member chooses a fee flow method among options of “pay-to-answer (PA)”, “charge-to-answer (CA)”, and “free-to-answer (FA)”, and set member's own per-pulse fee rate. Callers find the right receiver by entering keywords in a search box within their IM space or by going through a refined search utilizing such keys as country zip codes, keywords, or fee schemes. Results are returned in a search result page in several variations, preferably: pay-to-answer first, and higher rate on top; free-to-answer, then, lower rate on top; and charge-to-answer, then lower rate on top. The higher advertisers such as pay-to-answer providers are rewarded with more call icons appearing in a higher position. The search engine sells advertisements with its search results pages and receives a portion of the IM fee flows from a successful connection.

    • The present invention is directed to providing extensible and adaptable software communications controls for handling communication between devices. An extensible communications control is used to communicate between the computing device and a remote communications device. In a computing program that has been adapted to use the extensible communications control, information about a contact person is retrieved. From the retrieved contact information, it is determined what types of activities may be used to communicate with the contact person at the remote communications device. Once a communication activity has been determined from the contact person's information, a communication request is sent to a communication address associated with that communication activity. Upon acceptance the extensible communications control commences communication with the remote communications device.

    • Two methods are provided for selecting the QoS level during a connection between a first media gateway which is associated with a first subscriber and a first network operation, and a second media gateway which is associated with a second subscriber and possibly a second network operation, either in a packet network via an exchange by a CODEC or in a network via an exchange by a transmission technique. In such methods, the first subscriber and/or the first network operator signals to a first media gateway controller that they would like another QoS. During the first method, a CODEC used in the connection is modified via the first and second media gateways and two media gateway controllers. During the second method, an IP connection is deviated towards a TDM connection, or vice versa, via additional TDM endpoints and the aforementioned components. It is thus possible to adapt the QoS level to the level currently required.
