摘要： The present invention discloses methods, apparatuses, and systems for eliminating auto- and cross-correlation in weak signal CDMA systems, such as GPS systems. The invention uses parallel data paths that allow standard correlation of signals in parallel with verification of the lock signal to determine whether the system has locked onto the proper signal within the scanned signal window. The invention can be made with multiple CPUs, a single CPU with dual input modes, on multiple IC chips, or as a single IC chip solution for small, low cost reception, downconversion, correlation, and verification systems.

摘要： Communications acquisition method for correlating an incoming binary-coded spread sequence having m bits and arriving at a frequency f with a locally generated spread sequence by phase-shifting a multiplicity of locally generated spread sequences with respect to the received spread sequence. The received spread sequence being correlated with a locally generated spread sequence at the frequency f. The received spread sequence is stored. The received, stored spread sequence is split into sections and the correlation is carried out in steps at an oversampling rate. A correlator includes a shift register with feedback. Register positions of the shift register are connected in parallel to a memory input, and the memory output is connected in parallel with the register positions. A further memory holds reference signal sequences and another comparator compares the memory content with further memory content.

Each of the plural multipliers receives sets of the base band signal reproduced from the sample value and the local code, which sets received by the multipliers are produced at different chip positions for each of the plural multipliers.

摘要： A system for detecting and identifying the identity of a base station or cell which transmits a scrambling code is provided. According to one aspect of the system, the system is used to perform scrambling code detection of eight (8) primary cells (each scrambling code being spaced sixteen (16) chips apart) in a group. According to another aspect of the system, a single scrambling code generator is used to generate a master scrambling code. The master scrambling code is then used to create individual scrambling codes which are used in correlation with received signals to detect in parallel which one of the eight (8) possible primary cells in the group transmitted the received signals. According to yet another aspect of the system, each of the correlators maintains a corresponding segment of the master scrambling code. For every sixteen (16) chips, a new segment of the master scrambling code is introduced into one of the correlators, a segment of the master scrambling code is dropped from another correlator, and segments of the master scrambling code are sequentially shifted or propagated through the remaining correlators; and concurrent correlations are performed by the correlators using their respective corresponding segments of the master scrambling code and newly received signals.

摘要： A code-division-multiple-access (CDMA) system employing spread-spectrum modulation. The CDMA system has a base station (BS), and a plurality of subscriber units (SUs). The signals transmitted between the BS and SU use spread-spectrum modulation. The apparatus for maintaining control of power from an SU to a BS, comprises sending from the SU, using spread-spectrum modulation, a SU-spreading code, and detecting at the base station, the SU-spreading code from the SU. In response to detecting the SU-spreading code at the BS, a BS-spreading code is sent to the SU, using spread-spectrum modulation. At the SU, if the BS-spreading code is detected, then transmit power of the SU is reduced. If the BS-spreading code is not detected at the SU, then transmit power of the SU is increased.

摘要： Symbol 102 that is spread with the only short spreading code and inserted in synchronism with a long spreading code is specified by detecting the correlation with only the short spreading code. Next, another short spreading code indicative of a timing of reverse and forward link switching is specified, where the short spreading code is multiplexed at the same position as that of the detected symbol. The detection of the symbols spread with only these spreading codes enables to acquire synchronization of the long spreading code, synchronization of switching of reverse and forward links, and synchronization of a transmission frame. It is thereby possible to reduce synchronization acquisition time for the long spreading and an easy planning of base station locations without decreasing the frequency utilization efficiency.

摘要： Techniques to acquire pilots over code space and/or frequency errors. In one aspect, pilot acquisition is performed using a number of substages, and some of the substages are pipelined and performed in parallel using different processing elements. A searcher initially searches over a designated code space to find peaks, and these peaks may be re-evaluated. Finger processors then attempt to acquire the candidate peaks. The searcher may be operated to search for the next set of peaks while the finger processors process the current set of peaks. In another aspect, the full range of frequency errors for the pilots is divided into a number of frequency bins. A multi-stage scheme is used to evaluate the bins, and may employ pipelining and parallel processing such that a search for peaks in the next bin is performed while acquisition of peaks found for the current bin is attempted.
