    • A multi-coil choke for an AC power conditioner includes a magnetic core having first, second and third parallel legs. A first coil wrapped around the first leg terminates in first and second leads at respective ends. A second coil wrapped around the second leg terminates in first and second leads at respective ends. A third coil wrapped around the third leg terminates in first and second leads at respective ends. A fourth coil is formed from a proximal portion of the second lead of said first coil. The fourth coil is wrapped around a distal portion of the second lead of the third coil. A fifth coil is formed from a proximal portion of the second lead of the third coil. The fifth coil is wrapped around a distal portion of the second lead of the first coil. AC power conditioners using one or more such chokes are also disclosed.

    • Apparatus for reducing electrical earth displacement current flow generated by wound components is disclosed. In one aspect, an apparatus includes a plurality of layers of an input winding wound around an energy transfer element core. An outer layer of the plurality of layers of the input winding is wound with a number of turns different than the number of turns in substantially each of the inner layers of the plurality of layers of the input winding. An output winding is wound around the energy transfer element core with substantially the same number of turns as the number of turns of the outer layer of the plurality of layers of the input winding to reduce substantially a capacitive displacement current flowing between the input and output windings.

    • A planar transformer arrangement and method provide isolation between an input signal and an output signal. The planar transformer arrangement includes a planar medium having a first layer, a second layer, and a dielectric interlayer arranged between the first and second layers; at least one meandering primary winding arranged on the first layer of the planar medium, a current flow being induced within the primary winding in accordance with the input signal; at least one meandering secondary winding arranged on the second layer of the planar medium, the primary and secondary windings forming a planar transformer, whereby a voltage is induced across the secondary winding in accordance with the current flow within the primary winding; and a mode elimination arrangement configured to produce a compensated voltage by compensating for a common mode interference on the voltage induced across the secondary winding, the mode elimination arrangement being further configured to generate the output signal in accordance with the compensated voltage; wherein the dielectric interlayer of the planar medium provides a voltage isolation between the primary and secondary windings.
