    • There is provided a method that includes (a) detecting a partial discharge on a power line that carries a power signal, (b) measuring a characteristic of the partial discharge, thus yielding a measured characteristic, (c) determining that the measured characteristic satisfies a measurement criterion, thus yielding a qualified partial discharge, (d) incrementing a count of cycles of the power signal that contain qualified partial discharges, (e) calculating, for a plurality of cycles of the power signal, based on the count, a percentage of the plurality of cycles that contain qualified partial discharges, and (f) utilizing the percentage in a subsequent operation. There is also provided a system that performs the method, and a storage device that contains instructions for a processor to perform the method.

    • The present invention is directed to a medical boom with articulated arms and a base cabinet designed to accommodate modular equipment and utility racks that include video processing, computer, and electronic, and other utility equipment that can be easy inserted and removed from the base cabinet, as well as a method of manufacturing and using the same. The boom includes a stationary base that is configured to be installed into an operating room and one or more boom arms supported by the stationary base and configured to extend over an operating table in the operating room. The structural base includes one or more bays configured to receive a modular rack of electrical equipment. In various embodiments, the structural base cabinet further incorporates wiring to connect the equipment installed in the modular racks to video monitors and other equipment mounted on the articulated booms. The modular racks are preconfigured with a variety of electronic equipment such as computers, video processors and the like. The modular racks are installed in the base cabinet subsequent to the cabinet's structural installation in the operating room and may be readily removed or replaced at a later time.

    • A method and device for monitoring partial discharges in high voltage electrical or power systems is provided. A low trigger level and a high trigger level electrical pulse amplitude levels are defined. At least one phase of the electrical system is monitored for an occurrence of a pulse within a defined minor time frame. A peak amplitude of a pulse occurring in the electrical system within the minor time frame is detected. It is determined if the detected peak amplitude of the pulse exceeds the lower and higher trigger levels. A pulse number is assigned to the pulse if the peak amplitude of the pulse exceeds the trigger levels. The pulse is captured if the pulse number associated with the pulse is less than a predetermined pulse number threshold in the minor time frame. The captured pulses are stored in a memory.

    • Systems and methods are disclosed for on-line monitoring of the condition of the stator insulation of an AC motor or an electric generator. In certain embodiments, the system includes a transformer surrounding each pair of input and output cables associated with a given phase of power provided to the AC motor or generated by the electric generator. In another embodiment, a transformer surrounds the three input cables (for an AC motor) or the three output cables (for an electric generator) that correspond to phases of the AC motor or electric generator. In both embodiments, the transformers generate voltages that may be used to monitor leakage currents associated with the cables. A microcontroller monitors the voltages generated by the transformers and determines the condition of the stator insulation of the AC motor or the electric generator based on the voltages.
