摘要： A folding unit extends in the MD2 direction and has a central guide that comes into contact with the bottom of the crotch part, a pair of side guides that come into contact with the front waist and the rear waist, and a layering roller that lays the front waist and the rear waist one on the other. The space between the pair of side guides becomes narrower in the downstream conveyance direction. The ends of the side guides are located further upstream in the conveyance direction than the end of the central guide. The layering roller lays the front waist and the back waist one on the other further downstream in the conveyance direction than the side guides.

摘要： In a method of manufacturing a composite continuous sheet for an absorbent article, a first continuous sheet is held sliding on a peripheral surface of a roll at a first speed lower than a peripheral speed of the roll. The first continuous sheet is cut with a cutter. The cut sheet is transported in the peripheral direction and at the peripheral speed while being held on the peripheral surface. A continuous sheet is selected among a plurality of continuous sheets including a continuous sheet transported at a second speed higher than the peripheral speed, and a continuous sheet transported at a third speed that is equal to or higher than the peripheral speed but lower than the second speed. The cut sheet is adhered to the selected continuous sheet supplied towards the peripheral surface of the roll.

The apparatus may include a conveyor system adapted to convey the article along the machine direction, and a member turning system situated alongside the conveyor system in a position to contact the pliable member. The member turning system may include first and second pulleys at first and second locations alongside the conveyor system and having axes of rotation transverse to the machine direction, and a flexible belt engaged about the first and second pulleys in a twisted configuration. The flexible belt may define an operative twisting moving surface between the first and second pulleys that engages the pliable member and turns it as the article moves along the machine direction.

摘要： In a system and method for controlling the length of a discrete segment of an elastic web, a wound off tension of the web is determined during unwinding from a wound roll. The unwound web is delivered to a processing station while being maintained in tension. A discrete segment of the web is transported away from the processing station for at least a time t wherein the discrete segment decreases in length to a recovered length. The recovered length is predicted based at least in part on the wound off tension and in response to the predicted recovered length, at least one of the following is controlled: 1) the speed at which the web is delivered to the processing station, 2) the tension in the continuous web as it is delivered to the processing station, and 3) the length of the discrete segment at the processing station.
