摘要： A method for creating a graphic image on a reflective metal surface. A digital representation of the graphic image in a negative form is created on a computer and stored in memory. The negative image is then sent to an inkjet printer, where ultraviolet light curable ink representative of the negative image is printed onto the reflective metal surface using the inkjet printer. The portions of the reflective metal surface that are not covered with the ink remain exposed. The reflective metal in the exposed areas is mechanically scuffed to render it less reflective and visually distinct from the covered portions. The ultraviolet light curable ink is then removed with a high pressure water spray to reveal the graphic image made by the contrast between the original reflective metal and the scuffed metal surfaces.

摘要： A positive-working imageable element comprises inner and outer layers and a radiation absorbing compound such as an IR absorbing dye. The inner layer includes a first polymeric material. The ink receptive outer layer includes a second polymeric binder comprising a polymer backbone and an —X—C(═T)—NR—S(═O)2— moiety that is attached to the polymer backbone, wherein —X— is an oxy or —NR′— group, T is O or S, R and R′ are independently hydrogen, halo, or an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms. After thermal imaging, the element can be developed using an alkaline developer. Use of the particular second polymeric binder reduces sludging in the developer. Its dissolution rate in the developer is slow enough to resist developer attack in the non-imaged areas of the outer layer but rapid enough for the second polymeric binder to be quickly loosened from imaged areas and kept suspended or dissolved for a considerable time.

摘要： A material film for a mask film comprising a substrate film transmitting ultraviolet light and a resin layer not transmitting ultraviolet light disposed on one face of the substrate film, the resin layer having a color which can be eliminated by irradiation with laser beams, a transmittance of ultraviolet light of 0.1% or smaller, a thickness of 0.1-30 μm and an average surface roughness on a central line Ra of 0.1-3 μm and comprising carbon black having an average particle diameter of 20-50 nm and a specific surface area of 70-150 m2/g. The resin layer exhibits uniform transparency at portions the color of which is eliminated and suppresses formation of scratches. The mask film is easily positioned in preparation of great printing plates and good contact is easily attained throughout the entire surface suppressing containment of air between the mask film and the printing plate material.
