    • An automatic telephone answering apparatus comprises: an interface circuit for communicating with a telephone line; a memory for storing a plurality of blocks of sound data; a sound reproducing circuit for reproducing one of blocks of sound data; a ring signal detection circuit for detecting a ring signal having predetermined types of data patterns; a data pattern detection portion for detecting which one of said predetermined types of data pattern said detected ring signal has; and a control portion for communicating with said telephone line using said interface circuit and then, reproducing and sending said one of blocks of sound data in accordance with said detected data pattern using said sound reproducing means to said telephone line. The data patterns are assigned to one telephone line and are detected by measuring ringing and ring mute periods of the ring signal. This apparatus further comprises a mail box portion having mail boxes assigned to the data patterns respectively, so that first out-going messages are provided to mail boxes respectively. A user of each mail box can listen to ICMs in the mail box assigned thereto. The user of the mail box at the outside location can know the presence of at least an ICM stored in the mail box by counting the cycles of the ring signal before this apparatus responds the user's call.

    • A magnetic disk apparatus includes: a driving unit; and control part configured to control the driving unit. The control part includes: a position error feedback control system and a two-degree-of-freedom control system. The position error feedback control system has an integrator and a phase-lead compensator and is operative to determine a position command based on a target position and a sensed position of the magnetic head, thereby performs feedback control on the driving unit. The two-degree-of-freedom control system receives as input a target moving distance of the magnetic head and outputs a current command to the driving unit by using a mathematical model of the driving unit. The control part updates the mathematical model, and has a first update mode in which the mathematical model is updated using the output of the phase-lead compensator while the output of the integrator is provided to the driving unit.

    • There is provided a method of controlling a two-degree-of-freedom control system for controlling a controlled object. The method includes the steps of generating a first signal for feedforward control using a target value and generating a second signal for feedback control using an output signal from the controlled object. The method further includes the steps of outputting a plurality of the first signals while the second signal is outputted once, and controlling the controlled object by using the first signal and the second signal. In the present invention, plurality of the first signals include signals with different time widths.

    • A magnetic disk apparatus includes: a driving section for moving a magnetic head recoding and reproducing information in a magnetic disk; and a controller for controlling the driving section. The controller includes: a position-error feedback control system having an integrator and a phase lead compensator and obtaining a position command based on difference between target position and detection position of the magnetic head to perform feedback control of the driving section; and a two-freedom-degree control system inputting a target move distance of the magnetic head and outputting a current command to the driving section by using a mathematic model of the driving section. The controller providing the driving section with an output of the integrator and therewith updating the mathematical model by using an output of the phase lead compensator, in each of the times of positioning control and seek of the magnetic head.

    • A feedback controller performs a feedback control based on an error between a target position and an actual position of a head. A model controller obtains a control command, a model position to be output as a command for the target position to the feedback controller, and a model velocity for the head to follow a target velocity, by using a preset control equation model, and obtains the control command and the model position with the target position as an input, based on a differential value of the target velocity corresponding to a remaining distance from the model position to the target position.

    • A feedback control system applicable to a magnetic disk unit is capable of improving the accuracy of positioning at a low sampling frequency. The feedback control system comprises a feedback control unit (13) that samples a differential signal representing a difference between a desired value (11) and an output provided by a controlled device (17) at a sampling frequency and produces a control command value every time the differential signal is sampled, a multigain means (14) that divides one sampling period into a combination of a plurality of time periods (T1 to TN) according to a predetermined time period dividing rule and allots gains to the plurality of time periods, respectively, according to a predetermined gain allotting rule, a multihold means (15) that holds the products of the control command value and the gains allotted by the multigain allotting means as fixed values for the time periods and generates a control waveform, and a driving means (16) that applies the control waveform generated by the multihold means to the controlled device.
