    • An electromagnetic coupling selectively transmits power from an automobile engine to a supercharger. The electromagnetic coupling includes a rotor having excitation coils thereon and rotatable by the drive source, an armature magnetically attractable in a direction toward the rotor for rotation therewith in response to energization of the excitation coils, an outer holder plate mounted on the armature and having a first flange, an inner holder plate connected to the supercharger and disposed radially inwardly of the outer holder plate, the inner holder plate having a second flange positioned concentrically with and spaced from the first flange, and an elastomeric member disposed between and joined to the first and second flanges. The elastomeric member has a thickness in the direction toward the rotor which is progressively increased from the second flange toward the first flange. The elastomeric member has a surface remote from the armature, the surface and the first flange of the outer holder plate forming an obtuse angle before the armature is magnetically attracted to the rotor.

    • A power transmission device includes: a pulley 1 rotatably attached to a casing 9; a hub 2 connected to the pulley 1 by an engagement of protrusions with recesses; and a power shutoff member 3 interposed between the hub 2 and a rotary shaft 4. The power shutoff member and the rotary shaft 4 are joined to each other by means of screwing. When a water intrusion path formed between a hub side seating face of the hub and a shaft side seating face 44 of the rotary shaft is formed into a labyrinth structure, water is prevented from entering the seating face. An engagement portion 35 on the power shutoff member side is engaged with a hub side engagement portion 21a so that it can be accommodated in the hub side engagement portion 21a, and the power shutoff member can be rotated together when the hub is rotated. An engagement gap formed between a power shutoff member side engagement portion and a hub side engagement portion in the radial direction perpendicular to an axis of the rotary shaft is in a range from 0.001 mm to 15% of a diameter of a circumscribed circle of the power shutoff member side engagement portion.

    • The electromagnetic clutch comprises a rotor connected to a drive source, an inner hub connected to a device that follows, an outer plate provided on the outside of the inner hub so as to enclose it, an armature coupled to the outer plate and opposing the rotor, an elastic member provided between the inner hub and the outer plate and adhered thereto, and an electromagnetic coil for, when magnetized, attracting the armature together with the outer plate to make them come into contact with the rotor, and when demagnetized, separating the outer plate and the armature from the rotor. Because of the configuration in which the armature and the outer plate are coupled in a heat-transmissible manner, a part of elastic member is formed so that heat is transmitted from at least a part of the armature to the part of the elastic member as if they are one piece.

    • A power transmission device (10) comprises a rotatable rotary part (1, 2) to which a rotational drive force is transmitted from a drive source and a power transmission shut-off member (3) that shuts off transmission of an excessive torque between the rotary part and a rotating shaft (4) of a device to be driven. A caulked part (204a) for preventing a part of the power transmission shut-off member from dropping is provided on the front end side of the rotating shaft.
