    • The present invention relates to various oral care products containing, stable, dispersions of certain high viscosity silicones in certain surfactants; wherein:a. the dispersed silicones, which are insoluble in said surfactant, are oriented by the surfactant such that when dispersed in water they are particularly adept at forming oriented, coatings on surfaces of the mouth with enhanced substantivity, andb. the particle size of the dispersed silicone is from between about 0.1 and about 10 microns, with a particle size distribution such that from between about 80 and 95% of the dispersed silicone is within this particle size range. These stable dispersions are described as ULTRAMULSIONS, which, together with their physical properties, when contained in oral care products, provide these oral care products with enhanced substantivity to mouth surfaces, where the non continuous silicone phase functions as a reservoir for various active ingredients contained therein.

    • A process is described for reacting "myrac aldehyde" having the structure: ##STR1## (which structure is representative of a mixture of two compounds, one where the carboxaldehyde is in the "4" position and the other wherein the carboxaldehyde is in the "5" position) with an acid hydrating agent at a temperature of from 0.degree. up to 120.degree. C, to produce a mixture containing a major proportion of 4-(4'-methyl-4'-hydroxyamyl)-.DELTA..sup.3 -cyclohexene carboxaldehyde and a minor proportion of 3-(4'-methyl-4'-hydroxyamyl)-.DELTA..sup.3 -cyclohexene carboxaldehyde (otherwise termed "Lyral") having the structure: ##STR2## and a minor proportion of 3-(4'-methyl-4'-hydroxyamyl)-.DELTA..sup.3 -cyclohexene carboxaldehyde having the structure: ##STR3## which mixture possesses a sweet, lilac-lily aromatic odor and isolating a mixture of the two carboxaldehydes. The products produced by the aforementioned process are useful in various aspects of perfumery.
