    • A posture assessment and feedback instrument (FIG. 1A and FIG. 1B) all contained within a single housing (1). The output of a capacitive sensor (4) within the housing (1) varies in response to the distance between the sensor and the body of a user. The housing (1) is strapped to the body of a user (FIG. 3, FIG. 4, FIG. 5A, and FIG. 5B) with a belt (2). The application area is chosen such that the distance between the sensor (4) and the body varies in response to a defined posture change (FIG. 5A and FIG. 5B). Thus the sensor output will vary in response to the defined posture change. The output is compared to a stored threshold value and triggers a feedback signal when the threshold is exceeded.

    • The present invention relates to a method and respective system for binding a portlet into a web portal infrastructure comprising at least one portal and a plurality of portlets. A method in accordance with an embodiment includes: storing a portlet profile data structure, wherein the portlet profile data structure is associated with a portlet and is deployed at a portal server, and wherein the portlet profile data structure declares a portlet class and at least one portlet characteristic; storing a portlet binding policy data structure, which is associated with the portlet class and is deployed at a portal server, wherein the portlet binding policy data structure declares relations or conditions specifying the at least one portlet characteristic; during processing of an incoming request for a portlet, automatically selecting the portlet class, all stored portlet profile data structures, and the portlet binding policy data structure associated with the requested portlet; performing a cross-checking of the relations or conditions of the selected binding policy data structure against the portlet characteristics of the selected portlet profile data structures; automatically selecting a favorite portlet out of the selected portlets, which best matches best the cross-checking; and invoking the favorite portlet for rendering in response to the incoming request.

    • A rotary encoder includes a first group of components and a second group of components. The first group of components has a pulse wire, a detector, and a circuit configuration. The second group of components has a magnet and a code element. Upon approach of the magnet to the pulse wire, a voltage pulse is able to be generated by the pulse wire. A signal is able to be generated by the detector as a function of the relative position, and based on the signal, a logic circuit is able to ascertain position information which is able to be stored in a non-volatile memory. Triggered by the voltage pulse, a voltage from a voltage source is able to be applied to the circuit configuration. The circuit configuration is disconnectable again from the voltage source at the latest after the storage of the position information in the memory.

    • The invention relates to a suction device for an internal combustion engine provided with a first manifold (1) having a slot (3). A first suction line (5) is extended from an input orifice (7) which enters the first manifold (1) to an output orifice (9) which connects the first suction line (5) to the suction line of a cylinder head of the internal combustion engine. The inventive device also comprises a second suction line (11) and a second manifold (13) provided with a second slot (15) which are orientable and interconnectable. When the second suction line is in the first pivoting position, intake air passes through the first slot (3) to the first manifold (1) and afterwards, flows to the first suction line (5). When the second suction line is in a second pivoting position, the first and second slots (3, 15) are hermetically connected to each other in such a way that intake air passes through the first slot (3) and directly through the second slot (15) in order to enter the second manifold (13) and afterwards, to flow to the first suction line (5) crossing the second suction line (11).
