    • In an in-vehicle device control system, an in-vehicle device is controlled based on a checkup result of checkup operation, in which a checkup about a portable device is performed by mutual communication of transmitting a request signal from a vehicle-side unit mounted on a vehicle and transmitting in return a response signal from the portable device in response to the request signal. If the checkup is unsuccessful, the mutual communication is performed again by switching the communication frequency to perform the checkup again. When a user operates a door lock sensor, the vehicle-side unit performs an exterior checkup first. If the checkup is successful, a communication frequency, by which the checkup was performed successfully, is stored in a memory. The vehicle-side unit sets the communication frequency stored in the memory as a communication frequency, which is to be designated to the portable device, for performing an interior checkup next time.

    • In a vehicle door control system, a vehicle-side unit communicates with a hand-held device and detects an operation on any one of vehicle doors. When a condition for unlocking the doors is satisfied, the vehicle-side unit unlocks the doors. In addition, the vehicle-side unit also automatically opens some specific doors having an automatic door opening/closing function. Thus, the holder of the hand-held device no longer needs to issue another command to execute an operation to automatically open the specific doors. The vehicle side-unit also detects an operation on any doors and communicates with the hand-held device to automatically close and lock the doors, when the holder of the hand-held device leaves the vehicle.

    • An on-board illumination controlling system includes a mobile communicator and an on-board unit. The mobile communicator receives one of request signals and transmits, in response to the received request signal, a response signal. The on-board unit includes: multiple transmitters, a receiver, a comparison ECU and a control ECU. The multiple transmitters are installed, respectively, to different portions of the vehicle. The multiple transmitters transmit, respectively, the request signals to different communication areas. The receiver receives the response signal from the mobile communicator. The comparison ECU specifies one of the multiple transmitters which has transmitted the one of the request signals. The control ECU turns on one of multiple lighting devices in the vehicle corresponding to the specified one of the multiple transmitters.
