    • A display device of the present invention reduces the occurrence of cracks and breaking of plate-like control electrodes, enhances the operability of assembling and suppresses the reduction of a yield factor of products. The display device includes a back substrate which has a plurality of cathode lines which extend in one direction, are arranged in parallel in another direction which crosses one direction and include electron sources respectively, and a plurality of control electrodes which cross the cathode lines in a non-contact manner within a display region, extend in another direction and are arranged in parallel in one direction on an inner surface thereof, and a front substrate which has anodes and phosphors on an inner surface thereof and faces the back substrate with a given distance therebetween. The control electrodes are formed of plate-like control electrodes. The plate-like control electrode includes electron passing holes which allow electrons emitted from the electron sources to pass therethrough in the display region. Further, the plate-like control electrode has a portion which is fixed to the back substrate in an external non-display region. Still further, the plate-like control electrode has at least a portion in the external non-display region where the strength of the plate-like control electrode is gradually changed toward an end portion thereof in the extending direction.

    • A display device is disclosed for providing improved brightness and definition. The device includes a substrate which has anodes and phosphors formed on an inner surface thereof and a plurality of cathode lines that extend in one direction and include electron sources. Control electrodes are provided in a display region in a non-contrast manner. The control electrodes are formed on an inner surface of a back substrate and arranged to face a face substrate in an opposing manner. A support body is interposed between the face substrate and the back substrate such that the support body surrounds the display region and maintains a given distance. The device also includes a plurality of getters arranged between the support body and the partition wall body.

    • In a display device, to ensure sufficient electron source regions on cathode lines formed on a back substrate, cathode lines are divided into line portions and cathode portions, wherein the line portions are made narrow to a width which is a required minimum for transmitting signals, and the area of the cathode portions which form an electron source has a wide island shape. Further, a plurality of cathode lines are formed into groups, and respective cathode portions are formed at positions corresponding to electron passing apertures formed in the control electrodes. Also, the gap between the wiring portions is made small, so that a relatively large space is ensured between neighboring groups of the cathode lines. Thus, the tolerance in mounting the control electrodes and the tolerance in mounting the distance holding members can be increased, whereby the alignment between electron passing apertures and cathode lines is facilitated.
