    • The invention is designed to virtually contain smoke, vapor, and odor throughout the entire smoking process. The device is designed with a detachable and contained combustion chamber using a positive air pressure, a filter or scrubber, an air propulsion system, or a one-way valve, to contain residual smoke, vapor, and odor from entering the environmental surrounding. The combustion chamber comprises a bowl resembling a cylinder, cone, or dome with, or without, a screen which is encased by a shield made of glass, metal, plastic, or other material that is impermeable to smoke, vapor, or odor, to contain the bowl. The combustion chamber is designed to contain any kind of heat that is applied to combust or volatilize a material creating smoke, vapor, or odor. The combustion chamber is combined with, or without, a respirator mask to contain smoke, vapor, and odor from entering the environmental surrounding using a pollutant scrubber.

    • A lancet has a needle (2) embedded in a plastics body (1), its tip (3) projecting from the forward end but being initially encased in a cap (4). This cap (4) may be integrally moulded with the body, around the needle tip (3), and be sheared away before use. The needle (2) can be pushed back in relation to the body (1) after use, conveniently by applying the cap (4) to the tip (3), until the tip is safely flush with, or set back with respect to the leading end of the body (1). The rear end of the body (1) has a structure (9) to prevent the rear end of the needle (2) being pushed forwards again. To ensure that the tip disappears, the body (1) may be formed with an intermediate, resiliently flexible bridge (19) stiff enough to remain rigid during pricking. But when the needle (2) is forced back and pressure is also applied to the part of the body forward of the bridge (19), the needle (2) and that forward part move back with respect to the rear part of the body. Then the forward part is released to move forwards, sprung by the bridge (19), leaving the needle held by the rear part.

    • An injection device holds a syringe in the form of a capsule having a needle projecting from its forward end and a plunger extending from its rear end. The rear end of the plunger received in the drive member, which, when released, is urged forward by a coil spring, thus projecting the needle and expressing the dose. The drive member is held captive in its rearward primed position by a detent provided by the body of the device. A sleeve covering a substantial part of the body can shift longitudinally of it from an initial rearward position to a forward position in which it either disengages the drive member from the detent, or in which a trigger is freed from actuation to release the drive member.

    • A lancet body for a skin pricker has resiliently flexible fingers (9) with outwardly splayed tips (10). The device is fired by pressing a trigger (13) and a spring (5) urges the lancet forwards and the fingers (9) flex inwards as the tips (10) snap past barbs (11), so that the tips (10) of the arms (9) engage behind the barbs (11). If the user tries to push the lancet back into the cocked condition, the fingers (9) are trapped and will flex as the tips (10) press against the barbs (11) until the arms buckle and the tips (10) are pushed out through openings (14). Thus the lancet is arrested and immobilized before a re-cocked position is reached, and re-firing is prevented.
