    • The SRAM cells of a semiconductor storage device each comprise first and second inverter circuits loop-connected with each other to form a hold circuit; two access transistors; and a hold control transistor connected in series with a drive transistor of the second inverter circuit. While the memory cell is not accessed, the hold control transistor causes the first and second inverter circuits to form the loop connected hold circuit for statically holding data. When the memory cell is accessed, the hold control transistor causes the first and second inverter circuits to be disconnected from the loop connection for dynamically holding data, thereby preventing data corruption that would otherwise possible occur due to a read operation. Moreover, a sense amplifier circuit that uses a single bit line to read data from a memory cell is disposed in a space appearing in the memory cell array, thereby effectively using the area.

    • A matrix array of memory cells are located on intersections of word lines and sense lines. Each memory cell has a magnetoresistance element and a switching element which establishes a connection between a corresponding sense line and the magnetoresistance element when a corresponding word line is addressed. A number of sense circuits are respectively provided for the sense lines. Each sense circuit includes a capacitive element connected to the corresponding sense line and a switching element for applying a voltage to the capacitive element and causing it to discharge when the corresponding sense line is addressed. The voltage developed across the capacitive element of each sense circuit is used to produce a binary output signal representative of information stored in an address memory cell. A number of voltage control elements are provided for maintaining the sense lines at constant lower voltages regardless of higher voltages produced by the sense circuits.

    • A supersonic plasma system in which a vacuum source creates a low static pressure environment within an enclosure containing a plasma gun and a workpiece has plural cathodes of sealed, modular construction in conjunction with a common anode, to provide higher levels of operating power and other advantages which flow from a segmented cathode gun configuration. Inert gas independently introduced into the plural cathodes undergoes swirling motion over the cathode tips. The anode is of modular construction for easy replacement in order to change the configuration of a nozzle, a plurality of arc chambers receiving the plural cathodes or a central mixing chamber between the nozzle and the arc chambers within the anode and coupled to a central powder feed. The powder feed includes a replaceable insert which includes at least one and preferably a plurality of powder feed ports into the various arc chambers. Alternatively, metal which has already been heated to a molten state can be fed directly into the central mixing chamber. The modular cathodes which are independently powered by separate D.C. power sources are also independently cooled by separate cooling water systems as is the common anode. The cooling systems are configured to produce swirling of the cooling water so that cooling action is maximized.
