    • A torque limiting mechanism for transmitting power from an external drive source to the drive shat of a compressor. A pulley, which is coupled to the external drive source, has elastic members. A hub, which is attached to the drive shaft, has engaging portions. A coupler member is located between the pulley and the hub. The coupler member is engaged with the elastic members and with the engaging portions such that power is transmitted from the pulley to the hub. The urging members urge the coupler member such that the coupler member is disengaged from the engaging portions. When power is transmitted from the pulley to the hub, the elastic members maintain the coupler engaged with the elastic members and the engaging portions. When load generated due to power transmission exceeds a predetermined level, the elastic members are deformed such that the coupler member is disengaged from the elastic members. When disengaged from the elastic members, the coupler member is disengaged from the engaging portions.

    • A method of processing a valve mechanism which includes a valve body having a shut-off surface in the form of a convex spherical surface, a valve hole, a valve seat formed by an opening of the valve hole, and a spring which urges the valve body toward the valve seat, wherein the valve mechanism is so formed that the valve body resists the urging force of the spring in accordance with the pressure increase in the valve hole to be separate from the valve seat, includes the steps of: preparing a processing tool having a processing surface in the form of a convex spherical surface which has the same curvature radius as the shut-off surface of the valve body; positioning the processing tool to the valve seat; and forming the valve seat along the form of the processing surface by pushing the processing surface of the processing tool against the valve seat.

    • A displacement control mechanism for a variable displacement compressor includes a first valve hole, a first valve body, a pressure sensing means operable to sense pressures of first and second points in a discharge pressure region to adjust a position of the first valve body, and a pressure-difference-increasing means operable to increase pressure difference between the first and second points when the pressure of a suction pressure region falls below a predetermined standard pressure. The pressure sensing means displaces the first valve body to increase an opening degree of the first valve hole according to increase of the pressure difference when the first valve hole is part of a supply passage. The pressure sensing means displaces the first valve body to decrease the opening degree of the first valve hole according to the increase of the pressure difference when the first valve hole is part of a bleed passage.
