摘要： Low-value mixed butanes are processed to obtain a high yield of high-purity para-xylene. Processing steps may comprise fractionation to recover isobutane, dehydrogenation of the isobutane to isobutene, dimerization of the isobutene to obtain C8 iso-olefins and isoparaffins, aromatization of the dimerized C8 product, and recovery of high-purity para-xylene from the dimerized product by low-intensity crystallization. The availability of isobutane may be increased by isomerization of normal butane. Each of the processing steps may be tailored to the overall objective of high para-xylene yield from a relatively inexpensive feedstock.

摘要： Product purity from or capacity of a simulated-moving-bed adsorptive separation process is increased by flushing the contents of the transfer line previously used to remove the raffinate stream away from the adsorbent chamber, preferably into the raffinate column used to separate desorbent from raffinate product. Preferably a stream from the adsorbent chamber at an intermediate point between the feed entry point and raffinate withdrawal is used as the flushing liquid. This flush step eliminates the passage of a quantity of the raffinate material into the adsorbent chamber in the transfer-line flush period or when the process conduit is subsequently used to charge the feed stream to the adsorbent chamber.

摘要： Low metal, low water biomass-derived pyrolysis oils and methods for producing the same are provided. Metal- and water-containing biomass-derived pyrolysis oil is contacted with an acidic ion-exchange resin having sulfonic acid groups to produce a low metal, water-containing biomass-derived pyrolysis oil. The low metal, water-containing biomass-derived pyrolysis oil is removed from the spent ion-exchange resin after ion-exchange. The low metal, water-containing biomass-derived pyrolysis oil is distilled to produce a low metal, low water biomass-derived pyrolysis oil and a distillation product. The distillation product comprises one or both of an alcohol ion-exchange regenerant and an acidic ion-exchange regenerant which may be used to regenerate the spent ion-exchange resin. The regenerated acidic ion-exchange resin may be recycled. The spent alcohol and acid ion-exchange regenerants may be recovered and recycled.

摘要： A process for separating para-xylene from aromatic compounds is presented. The process introduces throughout a first step-time interval a first mixed xylem stream into a first feed input on a first adsorptive separation unit comprising multiple bed lines. The process further introduces throughout the first step-time interval a second mixed xylene stream into a second feed input on the first adsorptive separation unit. During a first portion of the first step-time interval, the process introduces material from a feed stream used during the first step-time interval into a bed line not used to deliver a stream into, or withdraw a stream from, the first adsorptive separation unit during the first step time interval. During a second portion of the first step-time interval, the process introduces material from a purification zone into the feed stream used during the first step-time interval.
