    • A distance measurement method comprising: projecting a light beam having a speckle pattern to at least one reference plane to show a plurality of images with the speckle pattern on the at least one reference plane. The speckle pattern has a plurality of speckles, so as to capture the image with the speckle pattern on the reference plane to obtain a plurality of reference image information. When the object enters the area illuminated by a light source module, an image with the speckle pattern on a surface of an object is captured to obtain an object image information. Then, a plurality of brightness relationships among each of the speckles with adjacent speckles rounding each speckle are computed according to the reference image and the object image information to obtain relative brightness information of each speckle, which is used to compute position of the object.

    • A method is provided for decoding an encoded point matrix image including a first set of real grid points aligned along a first axis, a second set of real grid points aligned along a second axis intersecting the first axis, and a plurality of encoded data points distributed throughout the encoded point matrix image. The method includes: locating the first and second axes according to a first predetermined principle; finding a set of virtual grid points according to a second predetermined principle, each of the virtual grid points being located at an intersection of a corresponding first virtual line parallel to the first axis and a corresponding second virtual line parallel to the second axis; and decoding each of the encoded data points based on positional relation thereof with a closest one of the virtual grid points so as to obtain information encoded in the encoded point matrix image.

    • A method for adjusting an exposure condition of an optical sensor module includes the following steps, (A) receiving reflected light reflected by a working surface; (B) generating an image signal by exposing the optical sensor module to the reflected light, in which the image signal includes a plurality of luminance signals and an image quality signal; (C) setting an exposure condition of the optical sensor module according to part of the luminance signals; (D) repeating Step (B) and Step (C) under different exposure conditions so that the optical sensor module generates a plurality of image quality signals; and (E) setting an optimal exposure condition corresponding to the working surface according to the image quality signals under the different exposure conditions. The optical sensor module is applicable to a pointing device.
