摘要： A system and method for reconfiguring a computing environment comprising a consumption analysis server, a placement server and a data warehouse in communication with a set of data collection agents and a database. The consumption analysis server operates on measured resource utilization data to yield a set of resource consumptions in regularized time blocks, collects host and virtual machine configurations from the computing environment and determines available capacity for a set of target hosts. The placement server assigns a set of target virtual machines to the target set of hosts in a new placement that is right-sized according to a set of right-sizing constraints and rules. In one mode of operation the new placement is nearly optimal. In another mode of operation, the new placement is “good enough” to achieve a threshold score based on an objective function of capacity headroom. The new placement is implemented in the computing environment.

摘要： Systems and methods are described for processing and clearing derivatives products with a binary outcome and having a final settlement based on a triggering event. A computer system configured to process and clear derivative products can accept initial and adjusted performance bonds from buyers and sellers, and adjust the market price of the derivative product at intervals. The market price may be adjusted on a mark-to-market basis and through analysis of other information, e.g., the credit rating of a reference entity. As a result of price adjustments, cash flow may be generated between buyers and sellers. The derivative product may pay a predetermined final settlement amount or percentage upon the triggering of a predetermined event. However, upon expiration of the derivative product, the derivative's market price is settled to zero and the agreement is terminated.

摘要： A filter apparatus for treating water containing particulate or microbial contaminants is provided. The filter apparatus includes a first filter element, such as a viral membrane, disposed within a sealed outer housing and in fluid communication with a first inlet port and a first outlet port. The first filter element is capable of treating water at a first flow rate and is adapted to remove contaminants that are larger than a first contaminant size. A second filter element, such as a bacterial membrane, is disposed downstream of the first filter element in fluid communication with a second inlet port and a second outlet port. The second filter element is capable of treating water at a second flow rate higher than the first flow rate and is adapted to remove contaminants that are larger than a second contaminant size. The second filter element may be housed within the sealed housing to form a multi barrier, replaceable filter unit. The unit includes a first inlet and a first outlet communicating with one of the filter elements and a second inlet and a second outlet communicating with the other filter element. The housing defines four ports arranged in substantially linear, side-by-side relationship which are adapted to establish fluid connections between the filter cartridge and a manifold forming part of the water treatment system, when the cartridge is installed. An accumulating vessel is placed in fluid communication with the first outlet port and the second inlet port for storing water that has been treated by the first filter element prior to treatment by the second filter element. The filter apparatus includes an electro-chemical anti-contamination device in fluid communication with the second outlet port and downstream of the second filter element for inhibiting the retrograde growth or the migration of microbes, bacteria, etc. into the filter apparatus by way of the faucet.
