    • A load carrier for transporting bulky articles on vehicles, having two beams connected by a cross-strut, the cross-strut being able to secure a load to be carried, has holding tubes that are securable to a rear of a vehicle and extend in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The beams are insertable into the holding tubes, and have angled ends. The beams are displaceable by a defined amount in the longitudinal direction in the holding tubes between a rest position in which the beams are under the vehicle and a use position in which the beams project beyond the rear of the vehicle. The beams are fixable in the rest and use positions and mounted so as to each be pivotable about the axis of one of the holding tubes into one of two different end positions. The angled ends of the beams are swivellably articulated on the cross-strut. The beams project beyond the rear of the vehicle and are swivelled upwards with their angled ends when in the use position. In the rest position, the ends of the beams are swivelled into a plane defined by the holding tubes and the beams are inserted into the holding tubes to such an extent that a rear edge of the load carrier is approximately flush with or in front of the rear end of the vehicle.

    • A bumper for vehicles, with a symmetrically backswept rail, is supported on a skeleton member of the vehicle body via shock absorbing arrangement. To simplify the construction by use of so called foam systems, and at the same time ensuring a high system efficiency, the shock absorbing arrangement is formed by an impact damper extending over the rail length and made of energy absorbing (EA) foam. Arranged in the midle of the bumper is a regenerable shock absorber which works on the positive displacement principle, passes through local clearances in an impact damper and in the rail and is supported on the skeleton member and on a trim shell engaging at a distance round the rail. An impact strip made of EA foam is inserted between the trim shell and the rail.

    • The invention concerns a method of producing a hollow profile with flange. To produce a hollow profile with flange in a simple way and to the requirements of the process, on which profile great enlargements and/or dimensional changes in cross section have to be performed with respect to an initial form to achieve the desired final form, it is proposed first of all to roll-form an initial hollow profile with flange from a sheet bar, which flange is formed by ends of the sheet bar lying parallel against each other, the initial hollow profile having a smaller cross-sectional area and a longer flange than the final form of the hollow profile. After that, the initial hollow profile is shaped into the final form of the hollow profile by exerting a fluidic internal high pressure.

    • An extendable element absorbs impact energy from a baffle and is capable of being moved by a trigger connected to a collision monitoring system. The device is moved in the longitudinal direction out of an initial position, in which it is received essentially in a vehicle side member, into a working position and is capable of being detained in this position.     • A motor vehicle bumper has a crossmember fixed to the body and an impact-confronting collision part. Non-regenerable deformation members are arranged between the collision part and the crossmember, at least in the region of support points, and the impact-confronting collision part is secured to the crossmember via fastening bolts passing through the deformation members. During a deformation of the non-regenerable deformation members, the collision part is displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle in order to increase the deformation capacity, while preserving the indicator effect of the support points. The collision part is designed as a trim part encasing, at least in the region of the support points, a core consisting of elastically deformable foam. With the exception of the region of the support points, the bumper has a gap on the energy-absorber side. Each fastening bolt is surrounded by a spacer sleeve supported, at one end, on the head underside if the sleeve and, at the other end, on the crossmember fixed to the body.
