    • A damper disc assembly 42 is provided to reduce the number of components in the torque converter. The damper disc assembly 42 absorbs and dampens torsional vibration as well as transmits torque, and includes a driven member 53, a drive member 52, torsion springs 54, and a friction generation mechanism 71. The drive member 52 includes a pair of plate members 56 and 57 fixed to each other. Each of the plate members 56 and 57 is located on either axial side of the driven member 53 to be rotatable relative to the driven member 53. The torsion springs 54 connect the driven member 53 and the drive member 52 in the rotational direction. The friction generation mechanism 71 generates friction when the driven member 53 and the drive member 52 rotate relative to each other. An urging force that is an elastic force of at least one of the plate members 56 and 57 is applied to a friction surface of the friction generation mechanism 71.

    • A clutch cover assembly is used for urging a friction member connected to an output member against an input rotation member and for releasing urging on the input rotation member. The clutch cover assembly comprises a clutch cover, a pressure plate, an urging member, a support mechanism and a movement regulation mechanism. The clutch cover is fixed to the input rotation member. The pressure plate is located within the clutch cover and urges the friction member. The urging member urges the pressure plate toward the friction member. The support mechanism is movable toward the friction member and supports the urging member. The movement regulation mechanism moves the support member toward the friction member according to wear displacement of the friction member.

    • A clutch disk assembly 1 includes an output rotary member 3, an input rotary member 2, a first spring 7, a second spring 8 and a friction generating mechanism 13. The first spring 7 circumferentially and elastically couples the output and input rotary members 3 and 2 together, and is compressed in a first stage in which a torsion angle between them does not exceed a first torsion angle 1. The second spring 8 is compressed in a second stage in which the torsion angle between the output and input rotary members 3 and 2 exceeds the first torsion angle 1, and provides a rigidity in the second stage higher than a rigidity in the first stage. The friction generating mechanism 13 circumferentially and frictionally engages the input and output rotary members 2 and 3 with each other, and can generate slide in the first and second stages. The friction suppressing means (12 and 14) keeps the friction generating mechanism 13 from generating slide in response to the torsional vibrations not exceeding the predetermined torque in the first and second stages.
