    • Face-to-face detection by infrared-ray communication is effective in grasping interaction between persons. However the problem here is that infrared rays have a high directivity and detection fails unless the persons face each other right in front. Sensor signals having a high directivity and sensor signals having a low directivity are obtained from a sensor terminal (TR) carried by a person. Firstly, information on relative position is obtained with a sensor (TRIR) of infrared rays or the like having a high directivity and an initial group is formed at an application server (AS). A feature amount such as sound that has a low directivity and can sense surrounding environmental information is extracted from among the terminals (TRs) belonging to the initial group by personal feature extraction (ASIF), correlation with terminals (TRs) not belonging to a group is obtained, and thereby whether or not those terminals (TRs) belong to an identical group is judged.

    • Disclosed herewith is a scalable disk array controller inter-connection network to be employed for a disk array system in which a plurality of disk array controllers connected to each another are expected to be operated as one disk array controller. The inter-connection network enables such disk array controllers to be added/removed without service interruption while the system reliability is kept as is. Each of the plurality of disk array controllers comprises a channel IF unit; a disk IF unit; a cache memory unit; a shared memory unit; means for connecting the channel IF unit/disk IF unit and the cache memory unit; and means for connecting the channel IF unit/disk IF unit and the shared memory unit. The inter-connection network comprises a plurality of switches to be increased in a scalable manner. Each of the switches is inter-connected with other switches with use of a redundant path having a separated physical route. In addition, each of the switches has an output destination table used to set redundant paths and switches between paths after the inter-connection network is modified due to the addition/removal of the above switches. The disk array controller becomes cost-scalable because the disk array controller units can be added/removed to/from the system as required without service interruption while the system reliability is kept as is.

    • Provided is a high-throughput large-capacity ATM switch in which variation in memory access time and data output delay time generated in the case where a DRAM is used as a cell buffer of the ATM switch is absorbed. To realize this, the ATM switch comprises a first memory using a DRAM for storing cells, a second memory using an SRAM for switching and temporarily storing the cells before transferring the cells to the first memory, and a controller for generating write/read address and timing signals for the first and second memories. The controller generates read address and timing signals for the second memory and write address and timing signals for the first memory taking variation in access time or delay time based on access address of the first memory into account, so that the cells are output on destination output lines after the cells are switched and stored in the second memory and then stored in the first memory.
