    • A secure network outlet for supporting IP device address assigning functionality. A network access request is received from an electronic device communicatively coupled to intelligent hardware. In one embodiment, a device address request is transmitted to a network server. A first device address is received at the intelligent hardware from the network server. The intelligent hardware then assigns a second device address to the electronic device. In another embodiment, the intelligent hardware has a pre-assigned first device address and assigns a second device address to the electronic device, such that the intelligent hardware eliminates the need for a separate device address assigning server. The present invention reduces the consumption of global device addresses within a network, and also provides protection to electronic devices by hiding their device addresses from the external network.

    • The present invention relates to a method for managing access to a wireless personal area network in an intelligent concentrator. The method manages wireless access to a network by providing wireless communication in the network, providing firewall protection between the network and a wireless access device, receiving an identification code from the wireless access device to the network, determining whether the identification code is valid, granting network access to the wireless access device when the identification code is valid, denying network access to the wireless access device when the identification code is not valid, and issuing an alert to a network manager when the identification code is not valid. The identification code can be the unique media access code of the wireless access device or any other unique identification code previously registered with the network manager.

    • A swinging lawn sprinkler includes a sprinkling control unit with a gear-operated transmission mechanism adapted therein attached to one side of a sprinkler mount thereof. A limiting connector having a water outlet connector engaged at one side is correspondingly matched to the gear-operated transmission mechanism and a spraying member. A main driving wheel, an adjusting seat, and a water inlet connector are sequentially coupled at the other end of the gear-operated transmission mechanism thereof. The adjusting seat thereof is equipped with a limiting cavity for a power switching device made up of a plurality of power units in linkage with a pivoting shaft and a pair of limiting zones with elastic pieces and pressure guide members adapted therein to be pivotally mounted therein to activate the shift of angles of a flow switch plate thereby. Thus, when the power switching device is rotated, the power units will produce arc-shaped stress concentration in advance and store energy thereby till an auxiliary force is instantaneously formed to overpower the elastic pieces and send the pressure guide members thereof quickly over to the other side of triangular locating guide blocks of the adjusting seat thereof, efficiently shortening the moving course of the pressure guide members and the elastic pieces thereof, and facilitating the swing of the spraying member within a short period of time so as to increase the frequency of the variation of water flow for more thorough and equal sprinkling of water around the lawn in a short time.

    • Wavelength reference standard using multiple gasses and calibration methods using same. A wavelength reference using absorption lines of multiple gasses provides stable reference wavelengths over multiple regions of interest of the optical spectrum. The gasses may be in separate cells or combined in one cell. Improved calibration using the reference is achieved by performing calibration measurements at a plurality of known wavelengths and using an average calibration constant derived from the plurality of measurements. In a second embodiment, improved calibration is achieved by performing calibration measurements at a plurality of known wavelengths and calculating a higher order calibration model, such as a least-squares linear fit. Both approached may be extended by segmenting the wavelength range and using calculated calibration values for each segment.
