    • An apparatus for transmitting data in a base station of a wireless communication system that transmits data depending on channel status information fed back from terminals and uses a plurality of antennas. Based on the channel status information, a scheduler determines a terminal to which the base station will transmit data, determines antennas via which the base station will transmit data among the plurality of antennas, and determines a space pre-coding method. A multiplexer multiplexes transmission data into a plurality of data streams according to the number of the determined antennas. A modulation and coding unit performs modulation and coding on each of the data streams. A pre-coding controller outputs a matrix select signal for selecting one of a plurality of space pre-coding matrixes according to the space pre-coding method. A space pre-coder spatial-codes each of the coded streams with the matrix selected based on the matrix select signal. An OFDM modulator performs OFDM modulation on each of the spatial-coded streams. An RF unit transmits each of the OFDM-modulated streams via an associated antenna.

    • A mobile station for use in a wireless network comprising a first base station that transmits user data streams in a forward channel using a multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) antenna system. The mobile station implements a virtual MIMO antenna system to receive MIMO data signals transmitted by the first base station. The mobile station comprises first and second transceivers. The first transceiver receives the MIMO data signals transmitted by the first base station and stores a first plurality of MIMO data signal samples in a memory. The second transceiver receives directly from a second mobile station a second plurality of MIMO data signal samples received by the second mobile station from the first base station. The second plurality of MIMO data signal samples are stored in memory. A MIMO algorithm generates from the first and second plurality of samples the user data streams transmitted by the base station.

Each communication link sector generation unit is configured to generate at least one associated sector for radio coverage, and the number of first communication link sector generation units is not equal to the number of second communication link sector generation units.

    • A system and method for channel estimation and echo cancellation in wireless system repeaters. A repeater with improved echo cancellation comprises an input radio control element having a receiving antenna and an output radio control element having a transmitting antenna; a power amplifier connected between the input radio control element and the output radio control element; and a signal processing unit connected between the input radio control element and the output radio control element. The signal processing unit is configured to estimate the communication channel from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna to produce a channel estimation. The signal processing unit is further configured to perform echo cancellation based on the channel estimation.
